Municipalities borders you can also get in Google Maps. Type municipality name in seach field, and the result will show borders.

Hello!
I remember from RO media that on the last weekend of May the tripoint of RO, HU and SRB is open to the public. Of course you need ID to go there as for any border crossing between these countries.

That Saturday would coincide with the day I would travel back from Timisoara to Ingolstadt. I thought it could be a nice to stop and visit the tripoint on the way.

I would have 2 choices, from the RO side at Beba Veche, or from the HU side at Kübekháza.

The bad thing is, as I saw in pictures, it seems to be no practicable road from Beba Veche to Kübekháza, so I would have to make a detour of about one hour from Sannicolaul Mare. The RO road seems to stop pretty close to the tripoint, so not so much walking to get there --> http://goo.gl/maps/lNntM

If I would drive directly to Kübekháza, I could continue towards Szeged without detours, don't know about the road quality there. Also I can't really see where the road ends in Kübekháza and how much there is to walk to the tripoint --> http://goo.gl/maps/HPl7F

As you can see the second choice is pretty much faster.

Any help here?

Pretty close? In fact the new paved road in Romania leads straight to the tripoint and ends right at the border You should look a satellite images Seems like they want to make a connection to the Serbian village in the near future...

Yeah, have a look at the satellite images Microsoft has pretty good photos: http://binged.it/13HJl3b

You can clearly see that there is no road from Kübekháza to the tripoint, just some kind of path. Also the road from and to Kübekháza look pretty bad from above, but you can't be sure about that.

If I would be you, I would take the road from Romania.

I know the Romanian road ends very near to the borders, that's the advantage of visiting the site from RO. And if the path from Kübekháza to the tripoint is to far away, you won't win anything by driving there.

I hope they will also make a border crossing there, with Hungary and with Serbia. With Serbia there 2 other border crossings in Banat that are not open daily, at Valcani and Comlosu Mare.

I'm guessing if and after RO will enter Schengen it will be only a matter of time (at least for RO-HU)

(Good) News @ last!

The National Infrastructure Developer announced the winner for the construction of the M3 extension (Main road 49 junction - Vásárosnamény).

The Colas–Közgép–Magyar Aszfalt consortium will be building this 11,9 km section for 15,5 billion HUF.

Deadline: end of 2014, though the date not exactly specified

Since time is running out, and the 2007-2013 EU budgetary period is closing fast, according to the NIF press release two other 2x2 and several main road bypass projects will be tendered soon (maybe this month):

1,

M4 Abony - Fegyvernek section
28,9 2x2 motorway, including the Szolnok bypass, and 2 bridges (Tisza, Zagyva)
construction start: Q2
construction deadline: end of 2015

2,

M86 Szeleste - Hegyfalu (Main road 84 junction)
7 km 2x2 expressway
construction start: Q2
construction deadline: end of 2015

During my last trip in Hungary I entered a roadside rest area from M5 motorway. After I entered I noticed a big car, owned by the road authority, and a man with green jacket that stopped me, while another man in the big car scanned my license plate (to see if I have vignette). After 10 seconds they let me pass.

The Austrians (ASFINAGs) don't have a cashier's window on their patrol cars

There is always discussion going on about what exact measures these employees in reflective vests can apply against motorists. I almost guess e.g. they do not have the proper right to stop somebody (i.e. they can only ask drivers for stopping voluntarily) ... would like to know exactly.

They signed me to stop, so I did because I knew that they want to check the vignette. First I tought that he wants to see the receipts from the vignette, but they just checked my license plate in the computer and let me go. My car was stopped for maybe 5-10 seconds.

i love road 4, it's the most varied road (maybe in the world), there are on only 150 km:

- simple 2x1 main road
- simple 2x1 main road on future M4 alignment constructed in the '70s (Ceglédbercel-Cegléd)
- good quality 2x1 main road on future M4 alignment constructed in the '2000s (Abony bypass)
- expressway-like 2x1 main road (110 km/h) on future M4 alignment (Kisújszállás bypass)
- 2x2 main road without median (Szolnok-Szajol)
- 2x2 main road with median (Szajol-Törökszentmiklós)
- 2x2 main road (110 km/h) (Törökszentmiklós-Szapárfalu)
- 2x2 main road (110 km/h) on future M4 alignment (Ceglédbercel bypass, Cegléd-Abony)
- 2x2 expressway (100 km/h) (Vecsés bypass)
- 2x2 expressway (110 km/h) (Üllő bypass)

and now 2x2 motorway

(we say that it's mixed like sh*t of beggar)
