According to some earlier plans there would be two branches of M3: the one that is supposed to be built latrer heading to Záhony, the other -main branch - going north, crossing the present border at Barabás, and this should be continued by the Ukranians to Mukachevo (Munkács), there joining the existing main road to Lemberg/Lvov/Lviv - as you like. This would be the logical version, as it is a more or less straight line, as opposed to the Záhony detour - assuming the bulk of the long distance distance freight traffic comes and goes to Ukraine proper, which is the other side of the Carpathians, and which is accessible via Mukhacevo/(-ve?) (Munkács) and further on anyway. I personally prefer this "direct" connection to the other one. Beregszász/Berehovo alone would hardly justify a freeway connection to the Hungarian (and hence the European) network. As far as the "Záhony branch" is concerned, I think that would be money down the drain. I also think that aadt numbers could change fast in this region.

But the road ends in the middle of nowhere on OSM thus it cannot be absolutely correct! I think the current end will be the location of the future triangle M3/M34, isn't it? Will it be located where the OSM road ends?
I guess there must be a connector to the road Vasarosnameny - Aranyosapati at the end of the current section. Does anybody know if and where a connector will be built? Will it be a temporary connector or will there be a proper junction?

Is there any information about the planning status regarding the next M3 section to the Ukrainian border near Barabás?

Right now a 9 km section is uc, which is going to end at the junction with Rd 41, as it is shown on your map. But realistically it will stop there for a good while. As you wrote the map is not accurate after this point. M34 is just not feasible now.

Dear hungarian colleagues, what's the current status of introducing the e-toll in Hungary? Is it true that the tender was scrapped in January and AAK is preparing it's own system? Is the 1st July still managable?

Contract was signed with a Hungarian firm on 19/04/2013.

The system kicks off 1st of July 2013.

Are there any plans to double M70 and M11? Making the full profile shouldn't be too hard, I would think, and I think there is much more traffic on these roads than on some other full-profile motorways like M6.

Also, any info on when will it be possible to drive directly from Szeged to Nagykanizsa on motorway, without having to make the detour all the way to Budapest? The south of Hungary is in need of good east-west connections.

This e-toll system will be just for trucks? The current electronic vignette for cars will remain, right?

M70 - there are plans to complete it, but deadlines -- ??? Only believe the present Hungarian government when a horse is grazing on their graves.
M11 - there is no such thing.

Szeged - Nagykanizsa: there have been 2 versions circulating for a while now, both have a tiny section completed:
M9 - http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/M9-es_a...orsz%C3%A1g%29

M8 - http://hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/M8-as_a...orsz%C3%A1g%29

Last Saturday I drove on the new section of the M3 Nyiregyhaza - Vaja. On this new section there is a service station in construction. When it will be finished? And before Vasarosnameny I see premiliniary works. There are earth mountains.

Guys, why don't they delevel this intersection? It's the only intersection on the urban M3 (in Budapest).

i dont know. but i was fined there 2 times in a short period a few years ago. you have the cross that intersection with 50 km/h at all time, and i was dumb enough to cross with approx 80 km/h at 2 am in the middle of the night...

its the infamous "szerencs utcai kereszteződés"
