Speed limit reduction to 100 km/h

Some "variable message signs"

Again speed limit reduction, this time to 80 km/h

We know clearly where to drive "go west..."
PS. Sorry for the old slovenian vignette... I can`t scrape off it...

Just before M0

Thanks for watching, I hope you were enjoyed. As a bonus one shot from M0, just after junction with M6 towards west

Nice photos! So few traffic even by Budapest? What's AADT here?

The lowest AADT is on the middle section, only 5,000 vehicles per day. That's 8,500 vehicles per day closer to Pécs and 13,000 vehicles per day south of Budapest.

http://utadat.hu/

I don't know why the AADT is so low. It serves a large area and it's not all empty steppe. There are some sizable towns and cities along the route. Through traffic (beyond Pécs) is probably low, but 5,000 vehicles per day is extremely low for a motorway.

The highest AADT in Hungary is found at the M1 between Budaörs and Budapest: 166,000 vehicles per day.

4 reasons for the low AADT:

1, Danube (despite plenty possibilities to cross the river)
2, it doesnt really serves Pécs
3, no transit route
4, toll

M6 is definitely the logical route from Budapest to Pécs. Maybe not the southernmost part with the detour via M60, but north of Szekszárd it is the only logical route from Budapest to Pécs, unless you want to avoid tolls.

1. Hungarian people usually want to avoid tolls. It is not Austria or Switzerland where 99.8% of the cars have the year sticker.
2. No one want to go to Pécs from Budapest. It has not any sense. There's nothing there. Hungary is very centralized, not like the Netherlands or Western Germany. Budapest is not only much more populated than any other city in Hungary (6× bigger than the second one) but is economically even more developed. Actually there's only one region in Hungary (Győr) which is not a net beneficiary of the Hungarian balancing system so that we can almost say Budapest supports the whole nation. Real economical connections between Budapest and other cities are pretty low.
3. Local freight avoid motorways because of tolls. If you check the motorways you'll see that a vast majority of trucks are in international traffic. But M6 has not any major international connection (unlike M1 or M5).
4. It's Hungary, a nation that has significantly lower economical level than Western Europe. People that live and work in Pécs have usually nothing to do with Budapest and vice versa. And people have no money to travel to Pécs just for fun.

It says almost 20,000 vpd after the second interchange (still low). I'm surprised it's so low despite Érd and interchanges every 2 km.

Nobody goes to Érd via M6, since its not connected to Budapest itself, but to M0 only. Its way more easier to reach Érd on M7.

M6/M60 is a real pain in the ass.

well, M3 has a quite high AADT until M30 junction as well, and has no connection with neighboring countries either. So what has Miskolc got, what Pécs hasnt? IMO M6 is not good for transit, and never will be, while at least M3 has some ukrainian/romanian transit.

It's not just Miskolc, it's Miskolc, Nyíregyháza and Debrecen. But Pécs just sits there alone
