I suggest you to buy it online, so you can forget about finding the right petrol station, waiting in long queues etc. I always buy it online before travelling to Hungary. The official website is this one: https://ematrica.nemzetiutdij.hu/ (you have to make an account, but it goes fast. Then you can pay with credit card exactly the official amount - no extra charges). There are also other internet sites offering the Hungarian vignette, but they are more expensive (experience of a work colleague).

MOL is on the other side of the motorway, but you can buy it at the Slovenian Petrol as well (and I think already before, even by Ljubljana).

At a gas station right after the border on the other side of the road (before H7).

Why don't you go to Grado (ITA), it is merely on the other side of the bay.

What's so special about Grado? Do you have an anti-Slovenian agenda?

Not at all, I like Slovenia but it is not known for its beaches simply because there aren't such. Well it depends what you call a beach after all.
Grado is in the vicinity, that is why I mentioned it just like Opatija, Crikvenica and Krk island if you want.

If it is such a problem a couple of euros for a toll booth in Croatia or Italy, you better go to Balaton lake or even Vienna beach at Danube.

The beach in Grado doesn't look very photogenic to me and Opatija has just one or two short beaches. Ok, this is OT.

Okay, I tend to admit that its because of my character. I really feel terribly annoyed by tool booths, and looking for enough coins, or credit card etc. Then it turns out that my wallet is in my coat in the trunk etc, etc. Its just insulting. Just let me buy the vignette, and let me drive!

110 km/h -but its not signed as expressway. Hungary is a little weird when it comes to expressway signs.

Actually we have to start getting used to a new name, since the motorway will cross the the border in the vicinity of a settlement, called Nagykereki.

Sure mate, it is up to you ... just wrote my opinion on your question. As a matter of fact, are there any plans for the exrpessway from Szombathely to Nagykanizsa?
