There is wide gauge rail terminal, so it has potential. To transfer goods from trains to trucks and then transport them to south/western Europe

Some pictures taken today on road 8 on my way from Sopron to Székesfehérvár.

Reconstructed 2x1 road between road 84 and Tüskevár.

You can drive on 2x2 alignment from Herend all the way to Veszprém.

Scenic route at Márkó.

We need more roads like these!

The Veszprém ring is in very bad shape, its mostly 2x1 and has 3 at-grade intersections. It looks like this:

2x2 again from Litér tó Várpalota.

This part will be reconstructed as part of the second phase of Várpalota bypass. They havent started yet. Maybe in 2017, which would be very good...

...because the first phase of the bypass will be ready end of next year.

From Várpalota its 2x2 again to Székesfehérvár (M7). Unfortunately they left two at-grade intersections at Csór.

New Székesfehérvár bypass.

All in all, road 8 is a very good drive.

Indeed, recently I drove on road 8 from A/H border all the way to Székesfehérvár in 32 °C heat. The quality of the repaved sections was very high and the driving was pleasant due to good road alignment and surprisingly varied scenery. Traffic volume was very low (it was a Sunday) so the miles just fell away without any any stress. On joining the M7, I expected an equally pleasant drive but to my shock and horror it seemed that all of Budapest was on this road returning from lake Balaton.

By the way, is the M0 a motorway or an expressway? Everyone seemed to be doing in excess of 150 km/h.

Using M7 on summer weekends is very risky. I recommend using M6. Its not a small detour, but its worth it if you face huge traffic jams on M7.

Its a motorway signed as expressway. Ridiculous, I know.

Signposted as expressway (Kraftfahrstrasse), which is somehow evolutionary.

At the beginning of M0, only one motorway carriageway was built, which had to carry traffic in both directions. Thus, 4 lanes were squeezed on that one carriageway. It is clear that expressway is the most this kind of road could be signposted as. This setup had a posted speed limit of 80 km/h.

With no hard shoulders, narrow lanes, many junctions and heavy - national and international - traffic, M0 was one of the most accident-prone highways in Hungary, dubbed the "Death Road". To make it worse, the central separation initially was nothing more than a double safety line, which didn't prevent drivers from making U-turns on the expressway. After a couple of serious accidents, the concrete barrier was installed.

After completion of the second motorway carriageway, M0 is physically a motorway, but still signposted as expressway. They should upgrade its status.

Motor/expressways projects until 2022.

(I dont know why, but they always leave out M15 and M70 of these maps, but both should be widened until 2018/19)

Looking at that map, it's a huge pity that there won't be a complete corridor from Letenye to Rajka. It would provide a decent connection to Zagreb from the north, and also ease some of the heavy traffic that currently goes through Austria.

It's the M9 expressway.

I agree, but from Szombathely to Letenye the traffic is not so heavy so current road with new bypasses will be still good.

projekt megvalósítása is translated as project implementation, but what does it mean exactly? that road will be finished, or just ready to construction?

It says: "legkésőbb 2022-ig". Means, finished latest 2022.
