well... our highways aren't cheap much... but under the circumstances and money we've spent on building A1 towards Split, it should pay off somehow...

locally for now, main discussion is Slovenian vignette system that pissed lots of people especially tourists... i don't think anyone can beat those prices

ADAC or OAMTC (not sure which) said the transit costs in Slovenia increased with 350%.

This depends on where you drive, really. For me they have decreased, for example.

Ok, but still, it depends. For example, if you only go from Graz to Zagreb, it increased for more than 4,500%.

any news regarding M70 opening from Tornyi to border? Slovenian media say that the hungarian section will be open in the end of august. The adjacent slovenian section of A5 will be open on august14.

I know that is ready, but it still needs to be open; it will be very appropriate that the two countries would do this together with some ceremony

Tunnel collapse

One of the tunnels U/C on the M6 in Hungary has collapsed on 24.07.08.
About a 100m long section of both tubes has collapsed, no one injured.

The soil above the tunnels became heavy b/c of heavy rains.
The workers saw cracks in the concrete on the day before the collapse, so they evaucated the workers and equipments.
Above the collapsed tunnel sections a huge crater generated (100m long * 40m wide * 15m deep)

Construction has been stopped on all tunnels.

north of Véménd, HU.
here is the route plan of the tunnels.
the collapse was in the longest tunnel...
(NORTH - letter "É" - is southwest on the blueprint)

Iam not too happy about these tunnels:
we need tunnels very urgently on the western and northern sections of the M0 (Budapest ringway), but we need no tunnel in this area.

morover we need no motorway(M6) here yet. Maybe 10-15 years later...
we have many more important road building jobs now...

Chris, you're so annoying with these original names. Ok in the Czech thread, but here it looks ridiculous. Next time you should write "Slovenija". :p

I like the original city names It's also a returning issue on the signage, do you sign the foreign name, which you have to know anyway to reach your destination, or do you only sign the local translation, or both?
