Hmm, seems to me that the variant will affect the natural scenery much more than upgrading the existing road.

yeah, this is wasting money too.
at least we are not alone...

btw: nice renderings. I'd like to see this kind of renderings of planned hungarian motorways, mainly the hilly ones (M0 west-north, M10)

btw, since we are comparing the names in different languages; slovenian name for Balaton is "Blatno jezero" which means the muddy lake; is in hungarian bala, balat somehow connected with the mud?
"is in hungarian bala, balat somehow connected with the mud?" -- No, it is not. There is no such word going back to this stem in Hungarian.

Megalomanic investment in my opinion. Endless troubles with dust, so the safety system thinks there's fire all the time.

btw, you had really bad jam tonight at M7 in direction Budapest, i have some pics of it too

M7 is always jammed on summer sunday afternoons... :-)
(maybe we should widen it to 2+3 between Szfehérvár and Siófok...)

What he said is true. But you asked this: "is in hungarian bala, balat somehow connected with the mud?" The answer to this is: no.

ok, here are some my photos (with mobile phone while driving, unfortunately, but my friend took some with camera, i'll post them when i get them).

hungarian side of border crossing (Letenye) is simply said - ugly socialistc structure with low capacity

my friend made a movie of crossing the bridge, it will come later. here we are approaching rondo where we are choosing direction. of course, i took wrong exit first because Budapest is signed quite poorly, i expected it over Ljubljana and M70 destinations. i have noticed this sign with general speed limits only at home when i saw the photo signs are often in shadow of other signs there.

end of M70 (you can see the overpass over future M7 approaching the Mura bridge). speed limit is unreasonable 80 at whole knot. a little bit disturbing.

M7 still 80 km/h

finally open motorway with no 80 sign

nice and smooth this net to suspend effect of lighs from counter direction is nice thing. anyway, signs for approaching an exit are weird and unusual, i expected each exit signed with arrows for direction straight and right at 1000 m, but there are only exit signs, as at 500 m.

this sign is in its usual place

and this one

green diveders in hungary

and confirmation of direction. so that's how exits are signed there.

this is an end of motorway just north of Nagykanizsa. rest is built, probably will be opened very soon as much as i've seen.

those 15 km of driving at road 7 will soon be history. that's good because road is not in good condition, but it is nice to drive becauseof nice surrounding. also, few dangerous intersections are there. no photos of it.

back to M7. sorry for blur

this one is surprising - one ascent has 3 lanes with SOS lane. it is about 3 km long.

green overpass. there is really a lot of them. that's good!

i took an exit 170. i have noticed a lack of destinations at signs. for instance, surprisingly - there was no Kesztehely at signs (and there was Kaposvar). i took road 71m the one that goes on Balaton's north-west coast. it is very crowded road going through many cities, but nice to drive. i took only one photo of it with this scary sign.

there were some jams, especially at north part. for instance, at intersection with road 84 really lot of cars went to road 84. or near Veszprem it was even worse (a lot of cars going to Veszprem). i recomend to pass that road because of reallynice suroundings with some interesting creations of nature (some hills looking as volcanoes).

at north peak of Balaton we entered great road 710 which is bypass of places at road 71.

we entered M7 back at exit 90 after few jams, especially at approaching M7. an intersection at exit was chaotic, there was law of stronger and traffic organization really looked like this one

at motorway there was a huge jam in direction Budapest. it lasted from exit 105 (Siofok centre), i'm not sure, but it could easily last up to Budapest. some photos:

when i get my friend's photos from camera, i'll poste them too

generally, excellent motorways, i like their wideness (Especially wide median and zones beside motorway), nice enviroments in motorway system and a lot of green passes. bad things are sometimes confusing direction signalization with lack of some places, and with some far places and i missed speed limit signs after exits. as i missed entrance sign, i was not sure was the limit 120 or 130 all the time and third bad thing is lack of lightning at exits. i have just got used on them so i miss them.

Nice report. "(some hills looking as volcanoes)" -- They are (dead) volcanoes. The area is called Tapolca basin, and it has a whole bunch of them.
One more thing: the missing part on M7 is supposed to open for traffic on Aug 12.

I do not think you were rude or anything, so I see no need to apologize. I see you are interested in languages. Do you speak Hungarian? (Are you one?)
Btw I thought about this word: "lopata". It is the same word in Hung., too, but I am not exactly positive if it got to Hung. from some Slavic language. It may have travelled the other way round, too. Anyway, I will check it and let you know. Finally just to equalize: let me apologize if I hurt your sensitivity by answering what you asked in such a blunt manner.

no, I have no Hungarian ancestry, nor I speak Hungarian, I know maybe 50-70 words at the best (mostly nouns), which is way too many than average Slovenian does
