Yeah, I think those steel beams are the west edge of the convention center/garage structure. They're still drilling some more holes in the hotel tower area, but there are forms and rebar for columns stacked up all over the place.

I think Fontainebleau under Glenn Schaeffer's direction will be an amazing resort.
Schaeffer is as solid as a rock. I put him right up there with Kirkorian, Wynn and Adelson as one of top people who shaped the modern Las Vegas Strip.

Looks like the constuction crane is being errected at the main tower site?
I couldn't really tell from the sidewalk if the tower crane base I spotted is fixed to the ground yet or just sitting there waiting to be put in position, but it was right in the middle of the lot, probably where the east wing of the tower will go.

Looks like Fontainebleau is kicking it up a notch with the cranes. Great photos.

Also, James Packer is buying nearly 20% of the privately held company for $250 million.

A special planning commission meeting has been added for next week and the only item on the agenda is Fontainebleau (they spelled it Fontainableau in the title and Fountaebleau in the text, LOL). Basically, they are just going over the Development Agreement, but they mention that the resort will have a total of 7,046,928 square feet of developed floor space. I don't think that figure was included in the previous data. That's more than double the 3,100,000 sq. ft. we originally thought it was going to be.

IT'S GOING TO BE A GREAT RESORT. NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.
MY ONLY QUESTION IS HOW THEY ARE GOING TO SELL THEIR CONDO UNITS IF THEY KEEP IT SO SECRET ?

That is a HUGE change, I wonder where it's going to go? Convention space? I'll update the stats for now.

EDIT - Actually no, it's stated in that 2nd blueprint I posted on the first page (on the right side). I guess my 3,000,000 figure was a much earlier figure or related to hotel space only.

Ah, I see. The original County Planning Agenda page didn't give a total figure either. Strange they would release blueprints but not a rendering. Where'd you find those blueprints anyway? Good sleuthing.

"Massive" yes...Although can't they build anything that's not wide or squat in Las Vegas? It's getting a little monotonous.

737 feet tall is squat? I guess it is in relation to the width. It was originally supposed to be taller, over a thousand feet, and probably narrower, but the planning commission wouldn't approve the height. The developer needs that many rooms to make it economical, so it had to get wider. That's just the way it is here.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I wanted to quickly say that I've been following the progression, thanks to my friend Brian. I run some Web sites that deal with these issues and thus I'm very interested to hear everyone's thoughts on these projects. Great stuff here guys!!

Thanks Hunter! I check your www.TwoWayHardThree.com site often for scoops on things. Some of the people who comment there have a lot of info about what happens on the inside of these buildings.

I can't understand people, who live in the middle of a desert. I'm sure Las Vegas is a great place to visit, but who wants to live there?

it's not really different from other cities, you just have more entertainment options.

Glad to see more people interested but please keep the thread on topic. If you want to discuss general Vegas development questions, you can go to the main Vegas thread in my signature. We need more frequent contributers and posters in there anyway.
