First big pour for the central core is close. They have been laying in massive amounts of rebar. Also, they are erecting the first on-site crane now. (The blue one.) The second one is also starting to rise. I'm sure there will be a third on the far end of the building as well. This thing looks huge. I'll post pictures from above tomorrow.

Thanks, I didn't know how to answer that question because I couldn't tell if that was a core on the end or not. The lot is very big and kind of hard to tell what's going on from the perimeter.

But I did notice that the old marquee is finally gone.

Here, you can see all three cranes:

Are you moving out of Sky? You can sure tell what's going on a lot better from up there.

Nice shots from the Sahara and Riv perspectives! Yeah, when Fontainebleau starts coming out of the ground, it will be easier to get some good shots from ground level. I had to lease my unit out for now, so I won't have access to it for over a year. We'll see if we can get someone else in Sky to post some pics.

Thanks for the overhead shots.

I was looking at the core picture for a second and was thinking the tower was kinda small- then I realized I was looking at the core! Huge.

Look at the blueprint for the elevators on the first page and it matches up so guess we shouldn't be so surprised.

There are three cranes, but I'm assuming there will be a final one on the west end making a total of 4 cranes wow!

Minor observation but that blue crane you see there looks exactly like the one used to build Turnberry Towers. Fontainebleau is done by Turnberry too so...could it be the same crane now seen on two different buildings?

I watched them bring in the pieces to the staging lot. Every piece looks brand new. Could be refurbished but that seems unilikely. Here's a cool shot of the whole blue tower. Right after I took this shot they brought over the top section in pieces and started assembling them on the ground. I had to leave before they were lifted into place. They do the crane building at night. Probably for safety reasons.

Shoot - forgot to upload to Photobucket. I'll post the pic tomorrow.

Yeah, I hope they get rid of the power lines. There seem to be a lot of overhead power lines in this city.

This is the rendering that was in the paper the other day.

Great updates.

Is this the site where the Wet 'n' Wild Waterpark once was?

No, but it's right next door to it. Crown Las Vegas (formerly known as Las Vegas Tower) will be on the Wet 'n' Wild Waterpark site. This is on the site of the former Thunderbird, later known as the El Rancho (not to be confused with the original El Rancho across the Strip that burned down).

Info from an Application Information card I just received in the mail:

The Fontainebleau is asking to increase the height of its podium building along LV Blvd from 81 feet to 111 feet, from 137 feet to 164 feet along Riviera and raise the garages/convention center building bordering Turnberry Place to a whopping 215 feet. And finally, Fontainebleau is also asking to build a cooling tower and "acoustic screen wall" along Riviera Blvd that would be 26 stories tall.

No mention of raising the main tower's height from the planned 735 feet.

Other requests from Fontainebleau to build temporary storage buildings on the LVTI lot and to build a 2-story sales center across the street next to Sky.

The frame they are constructing over on the convention side sure looks beefy enough to go much taller.
