I agree. It's to much a gimmick. It looks like Disney World... I think this is such a building you love or you hate.

But whether I like it or not, it is and will be a true icon for Hamburg!

What exactly looks Disney World-ish about it? IMO it's the exact opposite. Disney World looks cheap, tacky and unoriginal. The Elbphilharmonie looks sleek, modern, unique and relatively expensive even though it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

+1. People are entitled to dislike its design, but to relate it to Disney/Vegas style tackiness, seems like an objectively inaccurate description.

It's very funny to read opinions on the not finished real building of people who have seen the construction only once or twice, or even never before.
Same behavior as of all the theoretical China experts.

I love this building, but I really wish the contractors in Hamburg would build even higher buildings. Hamburgh is such a huge and awesome city and it should have a real skyline with clusters of highrises and skyscrapers. COME ON HAMBURG LEAD THE WAY, YOU BEAUTIFUL VIBRANT METROPOL

I think Hamburg is nothing like Rotterdam, it doesn't need skyscrapers to get interesting (no offence to Rotterdam). Nevertheless, i would love to see some stunning architectures rising on the Elbe's left bank, so why not?

Hamburg needs/deserves more international recognition - hopefully this building is one step towards it!
