The pic from carst0nHH is an old rendering. The whole glass structure will be higher (and betterlooking).

^ I think this architecture isn't ugly in any way. In fact it will be a great landmark for Hamburg, a lighthouse of modern architecure for this hanseatic city. Just look at the official homepage to realize its innovative style and especially the interesting interior. It may look strange to some people - but that what it makes unique, not ugly (sorry, but otherwise you haven't a great feel for modern architecture imo).

If u expect a tower it might look strange. But its not a tower.
I love the design, i love the combination of old and new and i love how its fit to the surrounding. This wont be only a landmark for Hamburg it will be a landmark for whole Germany.
