I haven't been to Dubai for 10 years now. Got drawn back to Cardiff by my wife and kids. But I just couldn't pass up the opportunity of keeping my love affair with Dubai alive. When non-Emiratis were given the opportunity to buy property in Dubai I jumped at the chance. In about 9 weeks we'll be picking up the keys to our apartment on Palm Jumeirah.

I can't wait!

Did you used to go to any of the Baker Street band gigs?

Yep, SZR is impressive, but like you, even for me, the Creek will always remain the nerve centre of Dubai...

I was just a wee lad when they used to have those gigs, mate. I was only born in 1981, though I have a very good memory of my childhood

I was actually driving on the Palm Jumeirah today with some friends... I went down the trunk, past all the shoreline apartments and I even stopped to see if I could see the Burj Dubai, but as usual, there was far too much haze and pollution!

Let me tell you that Dubai will shock you when you get off the plane if you have been away for 10 years! I was away in London for 3 months and when I got back, things looked so different to what I left behind!

We should organise a get together for all the Dubai oldtimers (and no, I do not mean age wise. LOL)

In my case I was 25 when I first arrived in Dubai in 1985. I worked in the oil industry between '84 and '97, making very frequent visits to Dubai. Although I spent time in places all over the Arabian Gulf (Saudi East coast, Bahrain, Doha, Muscat), India, West Africa and elsewhere, I never found anywhere to compare with Dubai and the whole spirit of the place. We had some great times. You know the sort of thing - Bryan Adams "Summer of 69" stuff. It took me a long time to grow up.

While I'm sure the changes in Dubai will have ben staggering I hope (and actually feel sure) that that spirit of the place is still the same - perhaps even enhanced.

I'll drop you a pm to let you know when I will be landing in Dubai in June (still not absolutely sure I can get away for a few days). Perhaps we can have a brew and a bullshit then! In fact, if you happen to be in Greenwich this week I will be in Southwark until Friday.

Meanwhile keep on enjoying your twenties in Dubai - lucky bugger!

Your the best DubaiFlo

P.S sorry but i had to use One of your photos in a WALMART thread over at SSP .....

I asked them why they hated WalMart so much , and someone named Vid said

"Because it killed our downtown cores. Being in Dubai, you've probably never experienced a downtown core so it doesn't phase you, but here, the effect is quite noticeable."

2nd one is Hi Tack - Beats for you
3rd is David Guetta the world is mine
Freeform five - No more conversations Mylo remix
The creeps
The Drill - The drill
Mason - Exceeder
Faithless - Insomnia van Buren Remix
dave spoon - at night
Booka Shade - In white rooms
Kernkraft 400 - Zombienation

As for the mixing, software? huh? i used the video software and just put the songs in it, with the only possibilities to beatmix etc being loud and quiet fading
