That's the original rendering, when the tower was 1000+ ft. It is now considerably shorter. The original design, as seen above, is attractive, but the truncated version looks rather ridiculous IMO, especially since it wasn't redesigned. Garden shears simply lopped off twelve stories from the blueprint. The clove thing on top sticks out like a sore thumb on the shorter version, whereas it blended in well and was unobtrusive on the original, as evidenced above. Oh well, we shall see. Hopefully it will turn out better than the updated rendering (which is floating around here somewhere).

Oh I didn't know they 've shortened the origingal design! that is sad... So, how tall will it be and how many floors will it eventually strike?
Let's hope that they at least enlarge that little spike on that small corner of the tower and put it on top, stretch it a lil bit further around and taller and from aluminium and glass!

The original Trump was approved at 324 metres and about 70 floors. Weaker than expected sales led to a re-design at 282 metres and 60 floors. The roof height is 257 metres.

That still isn't bad for Toronto.

It is only ten floors shorter, so it is not like they chopped the building in half or anything.

Keep in mind the building's grossly distorted for dramatic effect in that three-point perspective rendering. I'm sure it will look quite different/better as built.

I've always wondered if it is standard to give buyers an out if the building is changed dramatically like that..it would obviously hurt sales further, but I (and I'm sure many others) can't imagine signing a contract for a condo without a clause like that in there... anyone know?

I hope you're right. I hate the outsized spire in that rendering.

Trust me on this. Apparently, even project insiders are annoyed with that rendering.
