This fits with the rest of the downtown, but any idea if and when it actually will start construction?

As mentioned earlier in this thread, construction is scheduled to begin in September.

Yes scheduled, but things can change no? It just seems like ages ago this was announced, and units have been for sale for quite awhile.

Whoever say's that this tower doesn't fit in well with it's surroundings must be taking some sort of hallucinogenic drugs. It couldn't compliment the other buildings any better than it already does as seen from the renders. Very nice building and a great addition to the Toronto skyline imo.

Is this confirmed fact? If so, I'll change the thread title and--with disappointment--move it to the Highrises subforum.

Nobody knows yet.. there has been no final word yet. As soon as there has been an official statement, it will probably be reported here.

My point is, if this is no longer a supertall then it does not belong in the Supertall Development Forums.

In the new world of 2000ft skyscrapers, 925ft is medium height. The standard of what constitutes tall has shifted dramatically in the past few years. 925ft was tall circa 1995 or prior. Not everything needs to be tall, but lets get real here, TrumpToronto is a midget compared to what is being built these days. Add another 400-700ft and you're in tall territory.

But saying that, Trump wouldn't build a 1500 footer in Toronto. There are more important sites in his mind in the USA. One would imagine he will build a HUGE tower in LA some day. Or perhaps Houston? San Francisco? Etc.

No, he probably wouldn't build a 1500 ft tower in Toronto especially with all the competition he is getting in this city. The Shangri-La, Ritz, Four Seasons, etc. are all competing with his proposal and selling better than his. Trump's crassness certainly isn't helping sales either.

That said, 1500 ft towers are probably going to be office towers not residential, regardless of where you are in the world.

Trump ain't building anything in Toronto. His 'name' was brought in strictly for marketing purposes which is probably one of the biggest bonehead blunders of this current boom - he has no appeal here

It will absolutely be built, 100% probability. This building is over 80% sold right now so it is a no-brainer. Talon is majority owner and Trump has a small minority interest so it is a bit more than just marketing Valentino.
