Its far from being a bad building, it just has some eccentricities.

Some people have very rigid ideas about what a building must look like. If it isn't contemporary it's immediately trashed.

I try to see the point of this building but I just don't like that crown. The proportions of it are a bit ridiculous compared to the height of the building and the glass colour is rather unattractive. It doesn't really suit an elegant and sober city like Toronto.

What I like in that picture is the reflection of ScotiaPlaza in Trump... in fact it looks like twin towers and wish there were two of them

I don't get whats wrong with this building. It's great. Not something I would design but it's height is good for the location.

I don't like this one, especially for the medioriental looking spire.

Again, as I have so many times in the past, I can only ask "Why"? What is so bad about the location? A hotel/condominium right smack in the middle of the highly prestigious CBD? I'd call that a pretty smart location, actually.... certainly smarter than out in the boonies somewhere. Buildings sometimes go up because of their location, and not because of where they would look the best on a skyline.

I don't get the location criticism either. A hotel/condo catering to the super wealthy/business people are going to want to be as close as possible to where these people work/meet. If I worked at FCP/Scotia Plaza or had a meeting there, this is the best option in the city.

It even has access to the Bay/Eaton Centre just 1 block north. Trump lucked out with this location.

It spoils the best view of the CBD. The reclad was kind of a waste for FCP if it was soon to be blocked by 280 m of ugly green glass.

the wall of green glass actually only extends up to around 239m.

Nah .. don't think Trump blocks anyone. Both Scotia and FCP still retain their lake and city views. FCP could not see part of their E side by Scotia before, but now Trump just comes closer first. In fact, I'd think the Trump residents won't get much of a view since the plot is blocked on 3 sides!

I've been in Trump and I loved the views. You can't see far, but what you can see is dynamite.

People/cities build, for the most part, to satisfy demand not to create vistas for viewing. If good views result its considered a bonus. Likewise, the re-clad of FCP was commissioned for safety reason rather that photo opportunities.

No, I simply don't like the design: the color, the awkward spire, could have been so much better. Has zilch to do with my ideas about architecture.

You're right, maybe Trump Tower has the best views. It's nice because you can't see the tower itself.
