Opera theatres in Europe

We've had this for eastern European Opera Houses, but never for all. I begin!

Ukraine has some of the World's best Opera Houses, the most famous being Opera Houses of Kyiv, Odessa and Lviv.

Odessa Opera Theater.

Sculptures around it represent different genres.

Comedy

Tragedy

Odessa Theatre is simply stunning, inside and out. It is by the Viennese architectural firm of Fellner & Helmer. F & H are the architects of tens of other theatres across central and eastern Europe, including in Graz, Zurich, Brno, Zagreb, Sofia etc.

This can only be described as nothing less than sumptuous and the Odessa theatre is probably my favourite F & H.

Not as elaborate or grand as a F & H theatre, but still one of my favourites, Theatron Apollon in the beautiful neoclassical city of Ermoupolis on Syros, Greece. Built in 1862-64 and designed by Italian architect Pietro Sampo. The theatre is the venue for the annual Festival of the Aegean, conducted by Peter Tiboris from Carnegie Hall in NYC.

Ceiling fresco depicting great European composers and classical poets from antiquity.

National Opera House of Ukraine, named after Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv

The building is also infamous as the place of assassination of the famous reformer Prime Minister Stolypin.

It was part of my conspiracy, as I intended to win the battle of a century long rivalry between three equals and claim the rightful position of the most superior ukrainian opera house to the Kyivan one!

This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. But I think it'd have been even better if rear side was worked on as much as the other sides:

The rear side:
