Wow, those ultra-modern opera houses in Spain (Tenerife and Valencia) are breathtaking! So is the concert hall in Hamburg.

And of course the Paris opera house as well as the one in Dresden are both classically beautiful.

Wow there are some stunning opera houses in this thread, and many I didn't know about, esp. the modern ones! Just wow!

To answer someone's question, there are more than 2 opera houses in Paris. Opera Garnier (1874, 1900 seats) and Opera Bastille (1989, 2703 seats) are the most renowned as that's where the leading French opera company, Opéra National de Paris, performs.
But there are many others theatre houses in Paris. Showing maybe somewhat smaller plays, concerts, or less mainstream performances, etc.

Théâtre des Champs-Elysées - 1913, art deco & classic (1905 seats). It has 3 stages. Galerie Montaigne is the main one, the 2 others are used for small theatre plays.
Inaugurated in 1913, the theater was one of the first buildings of reinforced concrete in Paris. It was designed by Auguste Perret, who was later hired to reconstruct the entire port city of Le Havre after World War II. Today it is the city's most celebrated classical music venue. It also hosts opera and dance performances. (source)

=> By night with Christmas lights

This is an accurate model of how looks the theatre. Unfortunately it's inserted against other parisian buildings so we can't see it like this. I thought it was an interesting pic as we better understand the shape of the building:

(2009 - more pics & nice details)

(wikipedia)

One of the small rooms - "Le Studio des Champs-Elysées":
(source)

Bits of history: it was the site of the most scandalous musical première of the 20th century, the first performance of Stravinsky’s ballet, “Le Sacre du printemps,” on May 29, 1913 – a day of infamy for artistic expression. The theatre was founded as a venue suitable for contemporary music, dance and opera, unlike traditional, more conservative institutions such as the Paris Opera. Accordingly, it housed the Ballets Russes for its first season, which offered up the world première of the aforementioned “Rite of Spring.”(from here)

Some others are Théâtre du Châtelet - pics, 1862 (2300 seats), and the Opéra-Comique also called "Salle Favart" - link, 1898 (1500 s.), it's the oldest French opera company which received its first building in 1783, but which was rebuilt 2 times after 2 fires, considered as a "small Garnier" and located in the same area. I won't show pics as they look like brothers of Opera Garnier. Not the point of the thread.
