It could happen though. They know that they can't go to I-4 because it's locked up. so of course if the fountains are built at the riverside, that they will try to flock there.

^Sure it could happen, but what I'm saying is that I wouldn't want the city to not get fountains just because there are homeless nearby.

Generally the homeless that want to bathe, can and do at the various shelters/outreach programs. Its the deranged crazies who are so out of their minds on cheap booze, or are just plain mentally ill who tend to go days-weeks-months, without bathing. I think the bigger problem will be that the city will build it, then not have the money to keep it running because of the water bill, electric bill (lighting and pumping), drought etc... Too frequently, the City and most places in general don't hire enough realists/pessimists to work up potential problems in their own work. NASA didn't get to the moon by being optomists, they got their by ripping their own work apart, until they had thought of 99.9999999% of the potential problems. Unfortunately most municipalities seem to hire Mary Poppins to analyze things.

Hey, we've got Mary Poppins running the Disney Monorails and HARTline right now. Great! Maybe she can get some chimney sweepers to clean out all the city departments responsible for creating such an urban headache!

If the homeless bathe, so be it. We'll label it performance art.

They should spend more on parks where there is surface parking now - with x sidewalks and fountains in the middle - places for people to actually gather near where they might actually be - unlike Curtis Hixon

I had to work late at the forum offices last night and Laura actually surprised me and met me down there with our puppy to go on a walk. It was around 8pm and actually pretty nice down there, even moderately lively. We strolled the section of the riverwalk connection the Forum area with the convention center, pretty nice. Certainly gives me hope for the overall project if its ever completed.

Especially now, when land prices are lower and (broke) developers want to sell the land.

Amazing! Wow! Don't know what to say. Even though it still lacks retail, the video paints a whole new view on what it will look like. Ofcourse, they could be over doing it a little, but still, I can't wait. And Venu looks stunning in that video, unfortuantly, it has been stalled.

It's only almost a year away....

I got a reply back from one of the people working with the city on the Riverwalk and she told me that Heights will have bars and restuarants along the waterfront up there when they complete that project.

Yeah, I sent some ideas to her what they should do for retail and such, but I'm merely a citizen with little to none influence on this. Although I would take any job they offer me if they did.

Yeah I saw that. Honestly if they had a few extra pennies to rub together they could do something really cool with it. However this is a municipal project in the US, so it get VE'ed into blandness. Think of how cool it would be with glass panels for guard rails, with a SS grab rail. Keep it elevated above the river a bit, light it below with LEDs (maybe a series of jells to change the color along the length of the portion above the river). Maybe a some glass panels along the walking surface. Maybe instead of mounting to the river floor, you mount to the seawall and hang it via a series of steel arms. Maybe you get F'in creative. It could be one of the most interesting things in the city.
