I can't help but feel bad; on the one hand, this is some fabulous architecture and will no doubt be considered a historical landmark generations from now

But on the other hand... I kind of wish some of that money would have been sent to Gao and Timbuktu in Northern Mali, as some of the most cherished pieces in history including fascinating pieces of architecture are on the verge of being wiped out.
