it would have looked great inside of a hangar like the one the Saturn V is inside of at KSC.

Back to the airport, is there anything new with the airport expansion plans?

I'm flying of Orlando Sanford for my Thanksgiving break. (Going to try Allegiant Air for the first time ) I'm looking forward to how it compares to Orlando International.

I think the JetBlue housing portion of it's OIA campus is finally underway this past month--- got held up in red tape or whatever since last year...

Also, new flyover ramps for 538 WB to 426 SB are U/C;

OSI is an interesting animal. They went from International charters to regular domestic flights within 4-5years, which is a feat in a town where a major airport is already located.

They've extended LMB (Lake Mary Blvd.) to 415, so now it doesn't look like a backwards-@ss part of the county anymore; and the new domestic terminal is alright looking.

And they've got aircraft gantries at each of their gates as well in both the domestic and international terminals. They've committed some coin in Seminole for Florida's 8th busiest. It is interesting to track their growth...

The new Airbus A380 will make it's Florida debut at OIA Nov. 13.

Three airlines plan to fly it into OIA (Virgin, BA, Lufthansa (Oct. 30 service begins)).

Whoopdeedo. Frankly, I like the Boeing 787 better than the A380, for obvious reasons. And the A380 will most likely never be seen at TPA.

?? what does the 787 have to do with the A380? they are two totally different classes of aircraft. the 787 will seat anywhere from 240-300(extended body) and the A380 is twice that size.

As for TPA ever getting one, I think the consensus is that only major US airports are going to see these aircraft in their transatlantic service routes. The only other airports in Florida with those types of routes are MIA and maybe OSI if one of those Intl. charters like Monarch upgraded their 767's to the A380 (which is unlikely b/c of cost, and moreso unlikely b/c OSI's infrastructure isn't large enough notwithstanding the existing service routes). But OIA is one of very few if not the ONLY airports that does not have to be retrofitted to handle the new widebody jets (ala wider taxiways, et al.), which means that these new jets are GOAA-friendly (wallet-wise) right off the bat.

---

In OIA related news, Lufthansa is opening an office and showroom in DT Orlando which will feature a mock-up of it's first class seating section to market that service to it's OIA-FRA and other German routes. Also, there's a few Lynx/Lymmo buses with Lufthansa adds on them already marketing the new service.

Uh...the A380 has had many, many problems. And not too many carriers have placed orders for them. The B787, has tons of orders. Yes, both aircraft are different in so many ways and have had roadblocks. But in the end, I favor the B787 over the A380. Nuff said.

well, the A380 is the largest aircraft in the world. that's news, not some mid-sized 777 or 757 clone non-jumbo jet that will go unnoticed on the taxiway once it debuts.

nuff said? did you make a point? I still don't see the reason for comparison. one has nothing to do with the other. you make it sound like this is the YF-22 vs. YF-23 competition.

I want to say more. But that will get this thread excessively off topic. Then I'll get bashed by FLFuture or Jason.

Nothing really left to say. The Airbus A380 is coming to town, pretty cool. Period.

This constant need to make a point or be right is overwhelming .

It seems like whenever there's news out of Orlando it creates controversy.
