Airside 1 was being renovated in the same fashion before that, but those renovations are complete. Airsides 2 & 4 are newer. Airsides 1 & 3 were the original airsides. |

I flew out of OIA yesterday, back to Boston, and was surprised at how old the original airsides look in comparison. They have not aged well (exterior); value architecture is no value after 15 years.

![]() the old terminals are akin to Hartsfield's airsides and the old ones at O'Hare; typical '60's, '70's, and early '80's styles, where they didn't give a cr@p about the airsides. American gutted their airsides at O'Hare and retrofitted them to look newer with metal-looking walling and the terrazo floors and interior fake canopies that look cool; very northern city-ish. That's on the insides. On the outside, they look like they're from the '60's still. |

![]() Yeah, I'm fond of it as well. Except for the security checkpoint to get to the airsides. It could be worse... try flying in and out of LaGuardia. I think when Sunrail Phase II opens up and links directly into the Intermodal center, along with HSR, that will be a profound advancement for OIA. If I was GOAA, I would see if they could get Lynx to do a dedicated line from downtown all the way to Orlando Executive Airport once Sunrail opens up Phase II, so that they can adequately link their two airports via transit. |

There's been talk of adding dedicated lanes to Colonial over to Baldwin Park, so an Executive Airport diversion would make sense if that were to happen.

see Orlando Business News thread about the Airtran news of the new operations center which opened up.
Also, on GoogleMap, you can see probably a couple month old aerial shot of the new rental facility on A & B sides of the terminal complex; pretty expansive. |

Add to this that shopping is great since the price of some products in Brazil can be two or three time more expensive and now the economy of the "South American giant" is booming... So, nice parks, nice shopping, nice city for people with reasonable amount of money to travel... My tip: learn some Portuguese and earn lots of dollars. --- Just loved MCO. Forget the guy who said he didn't see it well. People from South of Brazil is blind about "European perfectionism"...

With the new Passenger Train will the Intermodal Center be built now? Along with the OIA Connector and Sunrail?

It looks like Allegiant Air, which had moved its operations from OSI to MCO a couple of years ago, decided to move back to OSI this past year. I'm actually glad b/c OSI would've lost a supermajority of its flights.

I don't recall Allegiant ever leaving SFB. They just pulled out of MCO recently? Do you have an article link?

![]() I read an article- can't recall where that stated that their customers filled out complaint forms stating they preferred OSI to MCO so they moved operations back to OSI. I don't know how the extent- but it made it sound like all of their operations. |

MIA overtook MCO as the state's busiest in the past year. MIA also overtook JFK as having the most international traffic for the first time. The international traffic gave MIA the boost up to 38M passengers per year; OIA is around 35M. That being said, OIA is adding more international flights to South America every year, but, Miami is Miami.

Airside 3- one of the oldest two, was renovated recently. they've got tile floors now to the gates and a full restaurant- can't remember which. Big improvement. But, I would replace the panels surrounding the AGT terminal on both the airside and landside for Airside 1 and 3 to mirror the newer ones on the other side which are encased in glass and stainless steel. not sure how much that would cost.

It looks like they are planning expansion/renovation of the existing terminal complex before the $1B South Terminal Complex is built.
http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/p...o-provide.html the video is no longer posted on the South Terminal proposal: http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/b...photos-of.html |

New daily service for Avianca to Bogota to begin December 17. Big growth since they began 4 days/week service back in June 2011. |
