Naja, das ist ja nichts Neues, die SŽD hat auch gerne in der DDR eingekauft.

Translation: That's nothing new, SŽD bought in the GDR too.

More beautiful from front than from sides (Putin could hire a cool graphic designer)

Thanks for the post. Is it a Chinese made locomotive? Those lamps remind me the Asian style... I don't know if ЭП2К is a brand or a number, I don't read cyrilic

Its a Russian locomotive, not Chinese.
Made by Kolomensky Zavod, a Trasnmashholding subsidiary.

Russan Railways plan to have ~200 such locomotives by 2010.

Not as eastetic as the previous one, but I am picky...

Locos need to pull, be reliable, cost-effective,... , if they are nice, it is only a +

If they are used for passengers, then it is more important to take good care of the easthetics... Don't want to drive in a Lada, prefer a Mercedes... Although Lada is changing a little bit towards the good direction...

Listening to the video, you hear that tracks are not welded together but joined by metal parts. I hope the way between St-Petersburg and Moscouw is made of welded rails for confort and speed...

This last one looks great, wander what power shes got. I understood what I did not like graphically on the pictures of the single diesel unit: those orange stickers were tooclose to the headlights. Here, those orange stickers are lower and it looks just fine... Hope it is a great machine for drivers too, confirtable, warm, fast, reliable... Right now, I don't know if Russian railways care much of the price of petrol or consumption... It is almost free I guess as you are producers...
