Love this building, but doesn't it sit smack dab in the middle of the pedestrian only mall that West 8 designed in it's winning waterfront bid?

The pedestrian mall was a later phase development that gave the Royal York Hotel an unobstructed sight line to the lake with a central canal and large monument as its nexus. This area of their design was truly stunning.

Oh well. At least this Telus building is LEED, beautiful, and sophisticated. This area needs it. The condo diagonal from it is entirely forgettable.

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

The Royal York will almost entirely be hidden once this area is developed.

He must mean the MLS pit, the Telus tower has reached ground level. So there is no trench/pit on this one.

The first rendering is run of the mill
The second looks stunning!
Whatever it turns out like in the end it's still LEED and an office building
It may be super squat but it's a good first step in expanding the financial district across to the other side of the Gardiner.
