4-lane traffic system on Anna Salai to be extended

The four-lane traffic system on the Anna Salai will be further extended up to Nandanam from DMS office with effect from February 10, 2007.

The four-lane traffic system is in vogue between Anna Statue and Whites Road since May 18, 1998. This had not only enabled motorists to adhere to the marked lanes, but also prevented accidents to a great extent.

Keeping this in mind, the traffic police have planned to extend the facility up to Nandanam junction on an experimental basis.

Some stretches between DMS office and Nandanam have been identified as narrow. Wherever motorists could not adhere to the four-lane facility, they shall use the lane crossing area marked on the road. However, they shall take adequate precautions while changing lanes, and get back to the respective lanes. The motorists have been requested to cooperate with the police for effective enforcement, an official release says.

The moderators in the indian subforum have done an excellent job in carrying the forum from a bunch of handful of people to the currrent 72 regular forumers. These people have taken many efforts to keep the discussions of the forum lively and interesting. I have agreed as well as disagreed with the moderators on various aspects but i would never say that they would take a impulsive or rash decision. I am sure there was somebody who complained to drwho and he went by the rules.

SSC is about skyscrapers further added on to cover all aspects of construction and infrastructure. So technically what he did is justified. But again this is an open forum, the rules are not rigid and we do include economy in many sections of the forum. IMO, the doctor and other mods are open to discussion and such disagreements can be expressed in a much better manner.

Everybody coming to this forum, has their own objectives. Each and every forumer connects to different ideas and discussions as per his/her own individual predilictions. For eg My take away is the information about the investments happening in chennai that makes me feel proud and delighted. Some forumer like Kannan would instantly connect to ideas and discussions on tall skyscrapers and beautiful buildings..But in this process of discussing disparate topics abt chennai,we have evolved an ecletic discussion group capable of discussing everything under sun about chennai.English language doesn't have a word for this kind of interest about a city..We can call Urbanism or Economics of City or Architectural appeal of the city.I think we are participating in an unique and innovative discussion group and any act of trying to narrow it down by some definitions will only kill the fun of it ..and the very fact of so many people are enjoying this discussion group is the proof that people like to discuss about civil projects as much as the investment news.....Indeed investment news attract more debates than Civil projects. So let us not restrict..Rather let us enjoy the natural flow...

We all should accept the fact that we all strayed into this website because of the word skyscraper. But when it came to our city there is nothing much to discuss about skyscrapers hence we satisfied our urge by discussing all development project which involved civil construction.Straying too much beyond that is meaningless. We should respect the spirit in which this website was created for worldwide users. Except for Chennaites this Chennai projects update is a scrap for outsiders. And we are responsible for that.

Hope everyone thinks in same way. Let's not digress too much.

Good amount of investment in a region is always followed by good infrastructure projects.
Would there be a IT corridior without IT investment pouring in chennai?

if we dont post investment details here, then where should one post?
not anywhere in the forum or any seperate thread available for it ?
sametime we cant create a another thread for investment alone since lot of forumers already feel lot of tamil nadu state thread are available in forum.

DLF IT Park - Status update

Here is a liberal does of civil engineering in IT for all of you folks!

The DLF IT Park at Manapakkam is going to be , at 5 million sft of space, Chennai's biggest and one of India's largest IT Parks

Major tenants are the likes of IBM, and perhaps, Microsoft.

The first block is pretty much complete, as we can see. DLF stated that it will be ready for occupation in March. Two more blocks are presently under construction.

The contractors are Shapoorji Pallonji.

Hi Leo_r

Sorry for not posting a reply early.

The reason for deleting some post are not directed against you specific, the reason is that some posts like corporate results should not be posted here but in economic thread.

Now,ofcourse corporate profits do effect infrastructure in the end (high results= high tax revenues for the state = better infrastructure) but somewhere we have to draw a line otherwise this thread can have over 500 posts in no time with only google-news about corporate profits and very little updates on infrastructure.

Rules are made by mods from ASF and is covering all sections in ASF. We are trying to be democratic as much as possible but one has to remember, free speech and democracy can never work on a private owned server because in the end he or she who owns the server decides whats ok to have on the forum.

tthanks

Feedback is important. We will let you guys decide what you want to discuss in this thread. Please consult amongst yourselves what will and what will not be discussed here. But mods in consultation with some of the senior forumers will take the final decision. Till now there has been very little problem. We should strive to keep it that way.

However please do not get personal.

Also do not spoil the main thread with complaints - send a PM - that always works better to draw attention.

And ifyou are new, please do not start new threads of an ongoing discussion thread on your own without informing the mods. Let other long time forumers take the decision of when to start a new thread. As far as I know, this particular action was triggered by some complaints about how some forumers were just starting new threads without any reason or spamming the threads.

Cheers.

Atleast some one is concerned about the SEZ's....

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...ow/1569204.cms

The Singapore government has demanded an explanation from the Indian government for the current freeze on SEZ approvals and notifications.

Singapore-based realty major Ascendas has $1 billion of investments lined up for its two proposed multi-product SEZs in Tamil Nadu, which have now been put on hold. In a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the ministry of external affairs, the Singapore High Commission has expressed its unhappiness about the uncertainty surrounding the future of SEZs in the country

kd701, you may please try to contribute to the threads and learn about the forum rather than managing it.

You are welcome to post any worthy news/pictures about chennai projects.
