Its a welcome step and I am really lookin forward to meet you all on Sunday. We are movin to the next level. anywhere/anytime in the week end is ok for me. Hope this initiative gets support from all the forumers.

BTW, being new to this forum, who is Sridhar n what is the significance of his presence?

One suggestion : The most happening stretch is Sriperumbadur than the OMR stretch. We can also try visit Sripermbadur.

Am also looking forward to meet Anniyan, Satish, Ranga, WillyWick and all the other forumers.

I was not comparing Chennai with Bangalore. But at any absolute scale, Chennai's roads are choking. I do think there will be a drastically adverse effect on traffic conditions if the number of buses goes up by 33%.

I would like to correct that. First of all, 15 km radius would translate to 700 sqkm. I think Bangalore city (I don't know what you meant by core) is about 12 km radius with a population of about 4.5 million.

Actually, Chennai is one the densest cities in the world. It's density is 25,000/sqkm. Mumbai, Delhi & Kolkotta are all about the same at 25,000. Bangalore city density I think is about 10,000. Bangalore city ofcourse has redrawn it's boundaries during nineties from 125 sqkm to I think about 500 sqkm. You were probably referring to metropolitan regions. Chennai metro is about 1000 sqkm. Bangalore urban area is probably even bigger.

I however agree we need more & better transport services. I would also like to add here that MRTS seems to be functioning quite okay. Once they take it to Velacheri (is that supposed to be inaugurated this pongal?) and further to Guindy, I am sure more people would patronize it. You currently have a service every 10-15 min during peak hours. Lot of people seem to be using it to reach Tidel park. Infact, we immediately need a pedestrian overbridge to cross OMR at Thiruvanmiyur and also other stations along OMR. There must have been atleast 200 people who had alighted at Tidel park station and all trying to cross the OMR. It takes a while for all of them to cross.

Kannan, wonderful idea... I won't be able to meet you all as I'm travelling to Bangalore. Please do provide a snapshot of what transpired on the day and a may be a snapshot of all the people who met!! It will be nice to put faces to the names.

Wish another meet of this kind happens sometime soon. A good start

I just caught this news partially on Sun TV. Looks like TN gov has capped the max amount that cinemas can charge. It seems they would limit it to a max of Rs. 50. Cinemas had provision to charge higher amounts earlier during first 2 weeks of new release. This also has been revoked.

I suppose we can forget about any new multiplexes in Chennai & TN.
