Well assuming flat land one can easily calculate that you need to have about at least 710 meter high object to be able to see it at a distance of 95km.

95km/40070km (Earth circumference) *360 degrees equals to about 0.85 degrees.

Now sin (90 - 0,85) = (6375 km(Earth radius)) / (6375 + BD height) => BD height = (at least) 710 meters. Of course it could be higher resulting in the tower being visible farher away.
Woo... Breaking out the trig. Yeah, I imagine that they'd only put something on their website that hints at 700 meters. Anything above 700 is just speculation, at this point.

Wouldn't it be nice, though, if they hinted at the exact height, hoping that there were no math geeks reading?

they want to have the title for the worlds tallest for as long a time as possible, and with all these mega supertalls going up, it wont be long. Prestige as well, to put that on your plate as a developer!

I love the shots of BD from far away. Really shows off its height, because it's not distorted by the angle.

*Shakes an angry and jealous fist at Mr. Comport*

Yes, please clean your lens. Your photos are too beautiful to be ruined by oil.

Because, buildings are built under contractss. Thay have tenants lined up, those companies have given up the lease on thier present office space based on a move in date of Jan 09, so now you have to have the building ready. Also cost go up, the cost of concrete is always rising, so the longer you take, the more it ends up costing.
As for the heat, try working on the Colorado river projects, the guys who built the hoover dam, and now the new bypass work in the 120's every day during the summer, out in the middle of nowhere.
I am sure in Dubai, just like Vegas or Pheonix, the construction industry is a huge buyer of ice. In Pheonix, they purchase over 60% of the local ice, and use both to cool the concrete and the workforce, water is never far away. When you go to construction sites, or the airport there you will see people who's only job is supplying cold drinks to the workers. And when they mix teh concrete, instaed of all water, they put in some ice, based on teh temperature that day, as the truck travels the ice melts and keeps teh batch cool.

I was also curious as to what floor your condo / apartment is on please? Gauging by the BD, I'd take a stab and guess ~23rd floor?

Increasing contrast doesn't make it look better, Mr Alloy.

Got rid of some spots, fixed levels, color corrected, tweaked shadow/highlights/saturation.

The downside of editing jpegs: everything you do deteriorates the quality of the image.
