Night Time in Dubai

A question for those who reside in Dubai.
Does Dubai suffer from heat island effect like Pheonix and Vegas do? That is where there is so much concrete and aspalt, that the temperature does not drop at night like it would in a normal desert area. I ask because the night shots always look so clear and beautiful, it makes me think that if one were to visit, it would be graet to walk about at night with a camera. In pheonix it stays well over 100 till the wee hours of teh night now.

Looks like theres been no real progress on the cladding then (I've been away for a week on holiday). I'm a bit disappointed.

heres approx size of top zoomed in. i reckon steel framed staircases and ladders will occupy top levels.
from roof 161/624m/tier18 to top of tier23/720m theres an enclosed section of 96m or 5 tiers x 19.2m each. Who knows what heights the steel platforms will be inside these levels. if there 6m each thats 16 floors added to 161=177storeys. If the platforms are 3m each thats 32 levels added to 161= 193 storeys!

no, no! in summer, although the normal heat is around 50C, the temperature does drop to lower tempereatures, and winter is definatley the case. highs in day of 24 and lows can be 7 or 8. I suppose it is a bit warmer here than out in the desert, but i dont think anyone walk or goes outside in the summer here! humidity is aroun 80-90%!!!

If you look very carefully, you will see that it actually says "11" the first one is sort of hidden behind the lines. So closer to 40 feet.

i really dont think there's enough room for even a apartment, it has to be a small tenant office. or a couple of small offices. what does everyone else think ?

700-1500dhs a month, which is like 220usd-500usd a month. its not much i agree, but its more than they'll earn at home, and the conditions are better here believe it or not.

Joobn- Sorry about the watermark thing. Obviously I was joking around, but you're right, it was inappropriate. I hate finding photos of mine in random corners of the internet with no credit given.

Vanhenrik- Where did you get those figures? The official website still says 130fl/468.1m.

Dubaimegaprojects has it at 486m which is using GPS readings from the L1 level. That still isn't true ground. I personaly believe Skytower's readings since he has a source at the site from Besix giving him reading info.

The official site is using the top completed floor.

No he doesn't. Just to clarify, let me repeat: he does not have a source from Besix giving him info. There's a reason why he took that name off of his site.

486m? isnt real grd some 10m higher, thus 476m?
anyway
i was trying to workout just how big Burj Dubai is compared to a well known highrise in Sydney. just to give you an idea how large BD is.
ive worked ot Burj Dubai is about the size of 10x 150m/45st Lumeire towers topped with a 200m tv mast.
ive stacked 10 on top to show size/ each tower is 40mx40m.

start off with 4 stacked togther.then add3 more top, then 2, then 1 which equals 600m or 4x45floors=180fl.
then the upper section of Burj Dubai is basically a big 200m tall steel framed tower, so ive added ch10 tower. totals approx 800m!!!
amazing.just cant grasp size.
just to let you outoftowners know. Lumiere is Sydney's newest skyscraper. nearly completed opposite Town hall in city centre. its 151m/47storeys high with 450 units. was designed by sir Norman Foster!!
it has taken about 1 year to build. so imagine 10 togther?

150m Lumiere

Hollie he did say in AAS that he gets calls from and informant of Besix and reports the findings when he gets them. If you disagree take it up with him. I got that info from Skytower myself. Just passing the info, not making it up.

All the best

First death on the BD construction site. A worker fell from the 130th floor to the 108th. Rest in peace.
