Good update Imre, thanks.

Has anyone else noticed you never seem to see anyone working on the structure except for the few shots Imre posted a while back showing the cladding teams.

Is this cause of the heat during the day or just the timing of the photo's ?

I know it's easy for us Americans to be so used to tall buildings, but for many forumers who live right in Dubai, I can only imagine how shocked everyone is! Though I'd like to think it's of awe and wonder, how is the local media / news reporting on BD or have you heard anything from the average citizens regarding the project?

Wow 480 meters. I think it's just the tapering of the structure that is still keeping me from "feeling" like BD is now a good deal higher than the Sears Tower, although the numbers don't lie.

Thanks again Imre for your contributions!

*Edit* The photo quoted above is also one of my favorites amongst the latest batch. Thanks

Wow, amazing updates, it's still hard to me to realize the magnitude of this tower, I just can't even imagine it!

Thx for the new updates imre! I guess it has already been answered, but how long to you need from your apartment to the burj dubai site? And all your other updates... how do you get time for this?
You must have had to travel hundrets of kilometres already for all these updates since all the projects are really width spread all over the city.

it's absolutly fantastic what you do for us here!!! just had to say that

And why should Dubai residents be shocked, considering that Dubai has had 3 building taller then 300 meters since 2000, more then almost every place on Earth?

WOW WOW WOW

I think this is why Dubai confuses me sometimes. In some pictures it looks like alot of skyscraper shells in the middle of a desert but other pictures it's a thriving metropolis. I guess you can say the same could be said for Las Vegas but Dubai is much bigger. Great pictures. cheers:

Most of the pictures we see on here are of new construction, and most of the new construction is happening on the edges of the city where there is only desert now. So that's what we usually see. We don't get that many pictures of the established downtown in this particular forum, like those pictures just posted, because those areas are mostly already full and not much new is being constructed there currently.

What you see is the original city center of Dubai around the creek.

The new skyscrapers just popped out of no where in what used to be the city's edge 15 years ago.

I saw advertised in a newspaper, they were selling an entire commercial floor (above level 100) of more then 11,000 sq.ft for the price of 4,400 AED/sq.ft. ($1,200) which will translate to around 10.000 EUR/sq.m.

BTW my 10,000th post also

but you would get an amazing view from up there, be cool if somebody could get one, but dead scary as the cranes from some of the picks look like they are going to fall off!
