The dimensions of the metalic section on top are correct as of now, however if they have found a way and have decided to pump concrete higher, that's another story.

If that will not happen, the tower will be 818 meters, if that did happen, then who knows.

This building is super 'Wow' stuff. Tell me: Do any of you "in the know"
folks know the routine of those crane operators who have to travel nearly
half a kilometer (straight up) to get to work every day?

^i dont know about that. there will be safety issues ect.
but maybe after its opened the developers may put aside a floor near the top for vip viewing from 700m?
These days towers dedicate an area or floor for special function room or viewing area. This is why the lev124 was chosen as ob deck becuase of its size and rooftop . I can imagine the large numbers of visitors wanting to go to the deck of worlds tallest structure when its completed!.
even though its half way up.
Imagine being on the outdoor area (roof of tier11) looking down 442m and then turn your head up and see another 400m above your? wow.

altind-yes its getting accurate as can be (818m) version, but as you said ,who knows what Emaar have install. they may be happy with that height or extend even further. It looks very proportionate now,
im wondering why bother? it only has be original 705m to be tallest in all 4 categories? there are currently NO sold plans for a building to be higher then 705m only fantasy projects or rumours. Wont be for another decade we will see another project taller imo.
I was ecstatic when there were rumours of extending Burj Dubai to 804m, then 808m and now 818m. but when talk of 900m-1000m where thrown around it made 800m seem short even though its 100m higher then original plan. Hopefully if it is a "measely" 818m forumers wont be disapointed.
cheers

No public will go above the observation deck. Just FORGET about it!

I guess it's time to find a way to make friends with the person who is buying or renting an office on the top floor.

I wonder who that is. Maybe I'll could buy him a couple of beers and introduce him to a couple of beautiful women.

Interesting to see that people claim to have won the "height guess" even when the building isn't finished yet.
Only once the building is finished we will know how high the building will be.
Current building techniques have a margin of error, in case of the BD, this could mean 1 or 2 meters + or -.

Also the building will be longer if the temperature of the building is higher, I don't know by how much, but I can imagine that the building is 1 meter longer when temp = 40 degrees celcius, compared to the same building at 20 degrees celcius.

Haha...I'll need all the luck I can get. I doubt I'd find him sitting in a bar here in Austin, TX on a Friday night.

There was something about it earlier on in the thread but good luck scrolling through 154 pages.
Someone said they would dismantle it into smallish pieces and transport it down the main lift shaft.
If thats wrong then someone correct me.

the UK is a joke when it comes to tall structures! i don't think the brits like to be too high off the ground. there is only one building over 200m in the whole of the country!

i hope they go higher than the 447m space ob deck of the CN tower, even if it's a smaller ob room at 600m+! seems a shame that the burj will break all records exept ob deck height.
