I love the progression on the cladding. Hopefully it'll catch up momentum soon.

I'd like to comment on the media coverage discussion. Here in Norway (Scandinavia, Northern Europe) Dubai and Burj Dubai are fairly common in the media. Just about all Norwegians know about the city and have some opinion or prejudice about it (mostly good). As for Burj Dubai it is mostly cited in the economic newspapers and magazines. However, even my local newspaper did a story on it as late as last week. So it seems that Dubai has a lot more coverage in Europe than in the states.

Considering Dubai is fairly small (there are 126 cities in China with more than 1 million inhabitants -how many do you know about?) I'd say it's one of the most famous cities in the world comparing to its peers.

Looking forward to when the records start falling (tapei 101, cn tower etc.) as I think that will really boost worldwide media coverage.

Hey, these building on the left are beautiful ! Looks like italian, or even form Sankt Petersburg, russia. Is that a copy of some european city ? Great ones, anyways ! I just hope their interiors are not made with this tasteless american-style deco...

Vincent.

Enjoy.

Some rumours on Discovery Channel having a second show on the Burj. One episode of the build it bigger series starting in July. Probably much later in Canada. Anyone heard anything on this ?

I haven't seen anything about Burj Dubai, but I know in the comercials they have the Shanghai World Financial Centre... the problem is that they say (or at least hint) that the SWFC is going to be the worlds tallest building... but it wont... upon completion it still is not going to be taller than Taipei 101.

"Premiere episodes of BUILD IT BIGGER, airing every Tuesday night at 10 PM (ET/PT) from July through October, immerse viewers in massive building sites throughout the world, including Shanghai Tower in China; the Istanbul Tunnel in Turkey; Burj Dubai Skyscraper in Dubai; Los Angeles Water Tunnel in California; Bank of America Tower in New York; rollercoaster builds in Minnesota; a casino in Las Vegas; and much more."

well this height has been posted from elevations. most of us are going with this until proven otherwise.
#the sock- are just spamming or do you really want to know? Burj Dubais ob deck will be lev124 or 442m high. CN Towers main deck is 350m but has a small space pod at 447m high, so yes its 5m higher.
cheers
