we are at a very interesting point... I hope to see in a few weeks the core emerging from wings,... there are a lot of renders and is not clear if the last wings stops at 138 floor or 142, and then the core reconfiguration will start.

Actually only the third wall becomes narrower after the mechanical floors. (The only one that hasnt changed yet) First real core reconfiguration is at level 143 or 144.

Hmmmm i little wonder what the progress on the lake is near the BD.

Interesting is how the BD`s height has increased from 610 Meters towards and whopping 818 Meters and by doing so moved itsself towards a posistion that it will be the next ESB and so creating a benchmark test for future hypertalls (3000 FT / 1000 Mtrs)

Where the completed floor of 139 will be when it's finished. (last red line)
The virtical walls are only half built, and the floor isn't poured yet, but the current construction height to what is built is 510.39m

So the red lines mark the tops of the floors corresponding to the numbers to the right of those red lines, correct?

Yes, the red lines are the floors themselves.
The last blue one is the floor of the Ob Deck and the big gap is the room itself.
The first red line is floor L125 as is the space above it!

I suppose it depends on how you look at it.
L138's roof, is L139's floor......138 is complete and 139 has started but not finished.

Some will say L138, I say L139 as do my GPS sourses at the site.
Do we quote the roof height of the floor completed, or the floor height of the level started?
Regardless, it's 510.39 to the top of current construction......but you know EMAAR?

I always wondered why there are almost finished areas near the actual cladding, but it seems they are painting already some concrete walls because after installing the cladding there won't be any access to these...
you see 2 of them in orange on the picture...

And does anybody know why the started the cladding on level 20 instead on level 5 or something like that... ???

From what I understand, they will have a separate subcontractor do those lower floors; the podium wings had to be finished first. They are now pretty much finished so possibly we will see cladding on that section go up soon. We haven't heard any news on it for a while though.

Hehe sometimes people just rub each other the wrong way, but it's only a forum and it's supposed to be a place where we can all relax and enjoy some beautiful buildings and learn a bit in the process (I know I have). I respect a lot of you immensely though I've never met you and probably will never be lucky enough to do so, Imre, AltinD, Culwulla, ZZ-II, and many (most) of the rest of you on here. For whatever reason I feel a cameraderie with you, perhaps because we all share a love of these buildings and we shouldn't fight for whatever reason no matter how apparently dire it may be to us, disagreement certainly but the sort of vitriol I've seen recently is not what we're all here for and is a waste of space that would be better spent leaving more room for the uninformed to ask how tall the damned building is every three posts...

just on current core height. i agree with floor markings up to 138. im fairly certain its double floor height, so 138 is also scaffold for 139.i dont think its poured yet? from what i can see. so 137 seems to be highest completed section. you have the floor height of 137-138 at 6m, but looks like all the other typical floor heights of 4m?
so 137 = 498m, and when 138 is built, it will be 8m high,so thus far its half of plantroom thus 502m high.so where you have lev139 line is 506m mark which is still scaffold.
this is why its taking so long.
anyway time will tell. it seems to progressing ok.

I am curious: we all know what the design of the structure is based upon in the natural world. Does anyone have any info as to whether or not this building is also based upon a square in which the sides creating each right angle are connected by a parabolic curve? In my extremely boring summer job I was sketching out such a design when I noticed that the outer curves of the design created by this seem to match the Burj's footprint at least in a rough manner. I got engrossed with my task and then drew another square in the empty space that was left in the middle of my first sketch (essentially creating a square inside the original square offset by 45 degrees) and did the same thing. Oddly, it seemed to me that by repeating this process, if one were to extrapolate the sketch with more revolutions of the inner square through this process, made it 3D, and gave a varying height to each "branch" of that design, the first thing that came to my mind was the Burj Dubai.
I then though of how cool it would be if one were to create a box building using that design by raising walls from the outer straight lines in effect creating a tall "shaved" effect kind of like that appearance you might see on the freedom tower (i think. its late I am tired and cannot remember the exact appearance of the "freedom" tower.) Any thoughts on that?

Incidentally, for those not versed in law...nothing that I have ever seen in this forum, with the exception of a few pictures, contain any kind of copyright notification...so any argument seen in this particular page regarding copyright is inconsequential. Equally inconsequential is any kind of threat of legal action of which there is no jurisdiction here.

According to Wikipedia Burj Dubai has passed 510 metres as of 4 July and is now therefore taller than Taipei 101.
