The buildings in the background make them look like they're from the same angle, but the tiers are switched around.

I see they're finally on the 4th row of glass... wow, do they need to do a lot of catching up - they're going to need 100s of people working on glass installation alone.

Also I found a excellent video quality 350mb torrent of the German "mega builders" Discovery documentary filmed back last year when it was around 70 storeys tall. It was interesting to see lots of different shots but f****** annoying trying to hear the English underneath the German over-dub, agh!!! They showed them having problems building some brick wall, testing the original glazing, and lots of other things as far as I could understand.
If anyone has the English one please look into putting up a torrent of it - would be very nice to know what the people are talking about.

you hwo no were to dawnload the video can give os the link so we rest can dawnload the dock !

Mr. Alloy what are you smoking? you lined up the wrong tiers. This makes far more sence in hight and in mechanical floors/tier allignment. This new render is pretty much the same pic just the viewing angle is moved to the right around 20 degrees, and black&white'ish.

AH! I see it now. Thanks for pointing out the mech. floors. So I was mistaken about which wing was hidden. I'll have to reexamine my height comparison.

The facade is coming along quite slowly. I expected much faster seeing the speed of construction. Hopefully they will speed up as more shipments come in.

Yeah, they built those 3 floors ten times faster than they cladded them.

bingo mr alloy. exactly what i said.
emmar must have slowly extended height after the initial 705m. up to 750m,t then 800m, and 818m.
the 818m version has now a bulkier top section from 700m up.

I think cladding started at an increased pace around the 14th and has only sped up since then. I also think they have not reached full speed as they are still going through the process of streamlining and trouble shooting the work they are doing. Therefore, I expect them to be cladding a floor every 3-5 days soon...?

What do you all think?

Geez. U are so right. I was almost shocked to see that boxy and quite ugly base How come they've designed it like that? It differs quite much from the design of the tower itself.

I had started counting the number of panels added per day, based on Imre's updates. To me, the rate seems incresaing too (still I didn't follow up this count lately so I may be wrong on that).

I don't know exactly how much, but I guess they might be able to go much quicker. Also, what about the supposed delays for 1 batch of panels to ship from china ? Maybe they're still testing with small batches sent by plane, or have been refining the process with only one first shipped batch or something like that. Just suppositions...
Anyways, if they want to complete cladding on time, they should add something like 60 panels a day IIRC. In 12 workable hours that makes one panel every 12 minutes. If there are several sites, like 1 on each wing, that leaves 36 minutes per site to install a panel. Let's say 30.

These panels seem to have 4 attach points. I don't exactly know what the attach mechanism is, but with 2 workers on a panel (one on base floor, one on top floor) and if you account for 15 minutes to transport and align the panel that still leaves 8-10 minutes per attach.

Of course we can think of putting 4 workers, one per attach, and 6 cladding sites, one on each side of each wing.

That leaves quite some room for ramping up panel installation by a fair amount anyways.

--

OK. Now a detail: for now, they don't install panels on the section above the setback, and that generates a diagonally expanding uncladdable section upward. I guess that here too, each setback will induce a noticeable slowdown in the process...

Vincent.

Nope they didnt downsized it. It will still be the full 800+ meters wich is a good thing

818 Meters was my guess at the Burj Dubai height guess thread at the skybar.

Cheers

It seems like it's taking so long, but I guess it's an incredibly massive project... I guess I'm just anxious to see this thing finished.
