lol, its the same all over the world on Google Earth. Its different satellite images taken of the area over a longer period, with sunlight from different angels making the color of the sea different. It has also something to do with the air over the sea, if its much dust there or not.

Like you said, you were only guestimating. It's possible that you were wrong.

According to Burj Dubai's Home page its 507.3m tall (15.7.2007), so its not the worlds tallest yet, but tomorrow, tuesday or wednesday it is!

Taipei is 509m tall.

Hi Qazaq - I decided to do some modification to your nice photoshop

It's only an illustrative example - not supposed to look completely real but eh, it should give a decent conceptual image to go from. Since the BD is a bit higher now than when this figure was originally stated, I don't know exactly how accurate it'll be now, but we're still definitely in the realm of this being possible - height est here is ~835 meters.

Version #1 (left the Chrysler's side portions on)

Version #2 (Removed anything that'd be wider than BD from the Chrysler photograph (since nothing will be wider anyway in the finished BD structure from here on. Also moved watermark to top left of new adjusted image).

The second image makes me giddy... Enjoy ^_^

Oh and just to note, if anyone's questioning the height, I think it's relatively accurate. I scaled BD from a tad below the tree-line to top of the formwork in Photoshop and it came to 5.45 inches. 5.4 / 512 (meters) = 0.0105 inches per meter. Chrysler Building = 1,048 feet or 322 meters. 322 x 0.0105 = ~3.4" (In the image I think I roughed it at 3.6"), but I think it's close enough to get the idea.

I doubt it. It'll be officially considered the tallest when it's finished.

Interesting..... All those nice pics and stuf to read....
Thanks all of you for doing this.

For me the height is 505-515. So until Emaar doesnt say it is the tallest i will believe them.

Cheers SSC Brothers and Sisters

nice work!

Hopefully BD will get as tall as it is today, with Chrysler building on top of it as in your render!

This is not important and I may be out to lunch, but I feel I should explain my reasoning for numbering the tiers the way I do.

Lets look at tier 30 in this shot:

We can see the elevation for tier 30 is 796.7 and it is 21.3 high. This gives us our 818 pinnacle height. So the elevation number for each tier is the bottom or starting height.

Working down the elevation numbers are the same in this shot:

We can also see that for tiers 18 to 23 the a and b levels for each are above the tier elevation number. So again, the numbers are the start of each tier.

So:
Tier 18 - 624.1 is the bottom or starting elevation.
Tier 17 - level 159 is the first level.
Tier 16 - 156
Tier 15 - 152
Tier 14 - 148
Tier 13 - 144

and now to where construction is at:
Tier 12 - 139 is the first level of the tier.
Tier 11 - starts at level 124 and ends at 138.
So the observation deck has access to the roof of tier 10.

This is what leads me to believe the first tier is called tier 0 - level 7 to 19.

Like I said - not important but I just wanted to show my work. Please feel free to prove that I am out to lunch and I will change my analysis accordingly.

Remember that this is just the way I see it but who the hell am I?

Have a good day all.
