thanks fury, yeah the tier numbers always confuse me.some plans say one thing and others say somehting else.

cheers
Well done!

So as I said on the previous side, as we are 507.3m up we might expect to pass Taipei's 509m tomorrow, Tuesday or Wednesday! And im pretty sure they will mention this in some big article somewhere, even though they can't claim it to be the World's Tallest Building (WTB-Title) before its completed.

i think the next big milestone is surpassing antennea of Sears tower, since thats the highest point on a skyscraper ever at 527m. Then it would be 553m CN Tower, then maybe 600m or 610m if your imperial minded (2000ft).
then 629m being tallest structure in world then 646m being tallest ever man made structure being warsawa mast. then the rest is new ground.

Culwulla oh yes, I forgot the Sears. Maybe someone else wants to add that in, and you can add another credit to that small list that's developing there. :P

Vanhenrik: cool pictures. The buildings around the Burj Dubai Lake look wierd because there's no water yet, eh?

Your guess of 508m was for level 139, not 140. The official website has it 507.3m for level 140.

Love these pictures! I have a several questions:

-Why Burj Dubai added base part later? Why not they built it at same time when it rises?

-Off topic, When will this mega mall and resort complete?

-How many stories left until Burj Dubai react end of concerte level and start do steel part?

-Off topiic, when will this man made lake have water?

-Podium footings were not part of the superstructure footprint, so added later to free up working space.

-Supposedly the early part of next year but I doubt any residents until at least September 2008.

- Another 16 if they haven't moved the goalposts again.

-When the Mall, BD Tower, and Lake Hotel is completed the landscaping will commence.

In that last video, the surveyors are using fairly old technology, even the gps station is a few years old.

So how many facade elemts do they install per day/week?

If they need 3 days per floor for the concrete, they should be able to install something around 1 floor per day of facad...no?

I was wondering what the view would be like from the top most floor and it hit me that the "Christ the Redeemer (statue)" in Rio de Janeiro Brazil is 700 Meters above the city. while this is not an exact match it does give some sense of what the views will be like, since the top floor at the Burj will be 701 meters high.

Does anyone know why the installation of the glass has to be staggered like this?

also, notice the man that appears to be very tall on floor 22. His head is on the ceiling!
