Hi everybody! I've been reading obsessively about BD on SSC since it was just few stories high. It is really amazing project and I can't wait to see it with my own eyes.
I didn't want to spam the thread before with unnecessary comments, just reading what you guys were so passionately discussing about and of course collecting those beautiful pictures you posted. Continue with the good job and GO BURJ!

OK now one question: On which floors and on what height are all 5 mech floors?

The pictures are good but just wait for the Tripod because it is more stable and you get better pictures out off it but nice try man!!

I thought they'd definitely put one in anyway, especially considering its height. If built I think the burj al alam down the road's supposed to have one and that's less than 500m

I always thought they wouldn't need one because of the nature of it's design...but I guess I was wrong.

Interactive webpage coming in a few hours as proof.

It'll be put in the steel section....not for at least 40 or so floors....or until we get above Tier 22.

It's not due yet for more than a year so you're gonna have to wait.

For all of you on Facebook or other social networks I'd recommend that you join the group Burj Dubai -history Rising. I realize that for folks like us on SSC it's pretty useless as far as getting new info and photos goes but that's not the point.

The more people we can get to join that or any other group concerning Dubai and skyscrapers, the better the word about the Burj gets spread. I was incredibly surprised to find that after inviting all of my friends to join the group, almost a quarter of them joined(45+ people). I had had no idea so many people either knew about or were intrigued by the Burj Dubai.

Here in America especially, a large part of the population is ignorant of Dubai. Even if people choose to ignore your invitation they're at least being exposed to it. So get out there and talk up the Burj! You'd be surprised how many people you'd never expect to be are interested.

Great idea Tower power....currently Slugbelch and Fury are the top forum photo finders....if you wanna know the best places to go to find them and you have the time....ask them.

Also...there WILL be an extensive gallery of BD photo's coming soon, from it's inception to its completion....with dates too!

Hi all.

Picasa - Elbebecius - 07 05 02

Got 34 pics from on the tower from some safety issue reports - same ( and more ) as Vanhenrik's - Good idea.

Enjoy.

Is this something that was planned all along or is it something that's an afterthought?

I've been to Dubai twice ... back in '97 and again last year (briefly) ... and I am aware how infernally hot it can get there in the desert. I've noticed noone has commented on how dingey greyish or brownish the sky looks in most of the photos; that many of the views are hazy and not clear. And, of course the lack of trees ... this is the desert, afterall. But the dingeyness of the sky - is it sandstorms? Air pollution? Haze caused by humidity???
