^ Agreed. Being rather slim does indeed make it look smaller than it really is. It is actually wider at the base than the Sears Tower by a small margin, just not as voluminous. It won't look so slim eventually, all those wings will catch up with the core.

ive made a scale model of burjD from 808m plans and its a massive bldg up to about tier12 or 507m.Its 36m wide with 3 sided diamond shape. After that the size reduces dramatically and i its floors do get small .
but as i said. BD is massive up until 500m or so.

For some cameras with a threaded lens you can buy a lens on ebay (or similar) which will make it take wide angle shots (0.45x zoom)or fish-eye lens shots. I bought some for my Panasonic DMC-FZ5 (12x zoom camera). The wide angle lens is really useful for wide angle subjects like buildings.

by the way, I have a brochure from the International Tourism Fair of the UAE. there it is stated the Burj Dubai will have something 'in the region' of 200 Floors. At least this book was officially authorised by government agencies (I suppose).

Yes, it is a wide angle lens, so it isn't 300 or 400 meter.
While you are the photographer and could estimate the distance to the BD better than we can, it still feels odd it's only 80-100m. I would say at least 150 meter, but who am I?

Have a look at the top: do we look at it at an angle of 80° from the horizon? Or 10° from the zenith? The BD is appr. 480m, so that makes tan(480/80) = 80°.
My impression is we can see the top at a somewhat smaller angle than 80°.

It may be an optical illusion though.

I just love the way it makes those cranes look like matchbox toys.

Focus on the external plates of the core section. You can even see 5 workers on the picture:
