Can we all just get back on topic FFS? This is a forum to talk about Burj Dubai, not for all you retarded nerds to complain, bash, and just be general a$$holes. Grow up, all of you. Get a life and start posting about Burj Dubai for once. I'm f*cking tired of reading nonsense on here when I want to read about Burj Dubai. I hope the admin bans every last one of you for life.

No, there will be no timelapse animation. A couple of months ago we got close, when Joobn started taking pictures from the same spot for that purpose but:

1. He didn't have a tripod so they didn't line up perfectly.
2. He lost his camera so there was a big gap in coverage.
3. He only started once about 120 floors were already up.
Those weren't big problems, however:
4. He seems to have disappeared of the face of the planet, so we are back again with nothing.

No one else has taken methodical pictures at regular intervals, so there will be no animation.

I wonder how much energy this building will require in terms of air condtioning to keep it cool during the summer heat in the desert. This project is massive.

You almost got me. I wanted to mention one particular kind of bastards from WW2, but I won't, because I don't want to fall under the Godwin's law...

Actually even third world countries have flat rate high speed connections so I don't know what cave you are using to judge the world.

Anyways a question to skytower, I don't know if this has been mentioned before its a really long thread, but are the plans you hav ethe final plans with no possibility for changes? I was still hoping to see a 850m tower.

The height thing
Its all almost the same, the Emaars height and Sky Towers height. Its just the difference from where they are measuring. Sky Towers height is recordered lower then Emaars, hence the height difference

One question for Sky Tower now:
If Burj Dubai reaches 818 meters, will be 818m by your height or by Emaars?

Now that would be stupid....no me...no SSC, no SSP, no AAS, no DMP, no height updates, no skyscraper magazine, no Burj Dubai podcasts, no top secret files for people to not read.

When was your last contribution the Burj Dubai threads Krattle?

Apart from your tirade above that's worthy of banning right now!

No I was talking about the "official" plans Sky Tower posted. They claimed a height of 818m so I was wondering if thats completely ridgid now.

The last updates (yesterday) are still referring to 818m version....but V8 of the spire is due for approval tomorrow (4th August) this will be the final draught of the spire before constuction blueprints are finalized.

How much wiggle room do they have with the structure once they pour the concrete raft and start building? It seems like there's been a lot of redesigning and height increasing. It seems to me that, whether the foundation can actually "handle" so much more weight than the original plan, it's probably designed for a certain weight within a narrow range, and can handle whatever amount more for safety reasons.

So... Any thoughts?

I've been using SATA6 now for over 4 years.....thats 6GB/s HDD transfer! With load balancing I can achieve up to 24GB/s internal transfer rate.

All of my servers are load balanced and the smallest load balanced configuration is 6x servers in tandem....although my new systems run in 60x load balanced tandems.

Do the math....what I was trying to point out in comparison is that my servers will always supply futureproof speeds that will exceed most PC's specs.....hence why it's the biggest hosting company in the UK.

So keep on laughing....I am.

I honestly don't think more than 10-15 meters more than what we're seeing now.
I've just read a developement from yesterdays spire fatigue testing...and the ensuing extra weld spots and bolt dimentions added to the latest design (V7) still has added an extra 18 tons without any other change to the height at all.

Sheesh....18 extra tons of weld spots!

Burj Dubai's Sim City 4 version, looks fantastic. I like it.
The work at the facade is going fast. I watched Imre's videos yesterday and the facade is going very well.

AFAIK the Dubai Mall will be connected underground with Burj Dubai
