Burj Dubai has set another record by overtaking the height of Sears Tower's antenna, which stands at 527.3m. The tallest skyscraper that erects in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is now 531.3m tall and has 145
storeys!
The 7432 sq meter foundation slab and 50-metre deep piling

Thanks for the pictures Imre end Vanhenrik. Nice to see the view from another angle. The Executive Towers are creating a nice cluster with the Burj in the background. I'll hope they'll fill the lake soon, I can't wait to see the Burj reflecting in the water

No way Even the palms are invisible from space, not to mention Burj Dubai is only 90 by 90 metres wide

@Imre: You are right - 145 floors high

Now that's just ridiculous.
It's not that you're going to be able to see it in profile.

That video was amazing, and yes it is corean, very patriotic as they attend to be most of the time hehe awesome animation

I was surprised by the spire-pushing-up-thingy, how cool is that?
would be cool if they could always add to the spire in case of competition from other maniacs building higher

It's spelled Korean, and height has nothing to do with visibility from space. To take an extreme example. The continents are not tall, but they take up vast areas. Thus, you can see them from space.

Well unless these folks are crack pots, the islands can be seen from space.

snip from each:

The Palm Islands, the three largest artificial islands ever made, are under construction off the Dubai coast in the shape of palm trees, big enough to be seen from space. The first will begin taking residents at the end of the year (although it won't be completely finished until 2010)

Palm Jumeirah:

The twin palm-shaped islands off the coast of Dubai are the luxurious and unique seaside communities of The Palm, Jebel Ali and The Palm, Jumeirah. These man-made islands are considered the eighth wonder of the world and can be seen from space.

The World (500 artificial islands which, seen from space, look like the world map), the highest tower of the world Burj Dubai as well as the world´s largest amusement park `Dubailand´ - are currently being built.

Whether they choose to stay at the exclusive Burj al Arab skyscraper or one of the several offshore developments that are large enough to be seen from space

The Palm Islands in Dubai. New Dutch dredging technology was used to create these massive man made islands. They are the largest artificial islands in the world and can be seen from space. Three of these Palms will be made with the last one being the largest of them all.
