*EDIT* improved picture, ive added a correct core width (in cmparison with finished width) and added the new core wall wings in a darker orange

*EDIT 2* Added core thinning

Burj Dubai is on Discovery Channel right now if anyone's interested. The show is "Really Big Things".

I don't have the set up to put it on YouTube...sorry.

It must be a new show though. They went up to the top(level 136 when it was taped) and the view was spectacular. You really get an idea of the massive scale of the project. The host said he was the first "non-worker" to go to the top of the building.

They also did a tour of SkiDubai and all of its workings. Hopefully someone will be able to put this on YouTube because I'm sure all the BD fans would appreciate the video footage.

Well the top 194m of Burj Dubai is a glorified spire (the main roof is only 14m above the Chicago Spire's roof), so apples to apples I'd say.

^ I don't see what that has to do with anything. Mr. Alloy is saying that after 10 more meters, the Burj Dubai will not only be as tall as the Freedom Tower, but that it will have an occupied floor at the height of FT's spire tip, which is much more impressive.

I love it how people think that somehow the Chicago Spire won't need mechanical floors and will have condos up to the tip. You can call the part above the mechanical floors "glorified spire" but to call the rest that is ignorant since the building could not function without them.

I saw the Discovery Channel Big Things show...great stuff. Amazing building, will have really grand, big scale amenities with the Ballroom designed by Giorgio Armani.

They said that the tower is rising 1 floor every 3 days and will be done in 2009. Temporary workers outnumber the residents in a 8 to 1 ratio. Workers have 12 hour shifts and there is 24 hour work going on.

Can the cranes really lift stuff from the ground to the current top floor? Can you imagine how heavy and resistant 540m of cable must be?

LOL why don't u think a little of what you just asked and where you asked it.

Almost everyone on this thread and forum is in love with this building and it enjoys the status of being our generation's chrysler..

And your question was whether we'd live inside? WTF???

obviously?

Maybe that's why nobody answered.

Just curious about the arguments why you want or don't want to live in a building like this..there must be some arguments laying around

Try to imagine living 500+ meters above ground..personally I prefer 100 meters cause that height keeps me still in contact with the surroundings...dingelings
Above a hundred meters I'am afraid I will be suffering from megalomania. Looking down on the rest of the world that way

I would prefer to live on the first or second floor and occasionally take the lift up to the top for the view.

Right! Would like to see the view up there. But living there (100+) is another question
