So what does everyone reckon? when will mighty BujD top out (concrete section-lev156). Basically we have 10 more floors to go. It has been said the core can rise every 3 days, but there will be some minor core reconfigurements which may extend construction. So i reckon instead of 30 days, i would double that? 60days/2months? maybe in october?

Enjoy.
Why does the host have to yell so much? So obnoxiously loud!

I felt really sorry for the head of construction that he met (who sounded like he was Australian). He must've been scared by this loud fat guy screaming everything at him.

And Burj Dubai really looks massive in the video.

My guess is three months/Nov. 21st. Great birthday present for me!

Maybe we should start a "guess the date of topping out" thread.

The host is just a big making-things-exciting-for-us foghorn & the project guy sounded more like a New Zealander.

More importantly, those views from the top of construction were amaaazing. Thanks for editing the programme & posting the link wj.

2 months will be near the reality. 2 more core reconfigurations to go, one more crane to dismantle. Thats a lot of work and it is still going quite fast. I thought it will slow down at this height, but it hasnt

I reckon the concrete section will top out before November. At 1 floor per 3 days+configurations, it wont take more than 2 months.

I dont think they will be waiting for the all wings to be completed. The steel part will not be braced into the winglets I suppose. Actually in two months all setbacks will be completed or near to completion.

Burj set for steel switch

The Burj Dubai will take a further step forward in the next few months as construction will begin on the steel structure of the tower.

According to Philippe Dessoy, general manager, Besix, there is approximately 80m of concrete still to go on the tower, which just 3 weeks ago was officially labeled the world's tallest tower.

Once this has been completed the steel will then start, which will be followed by the spire. "We expect the steel to start in two months time, and actual structural works to be completed by the end of this year," said Dessoy.

This should see cladding work stepped up on the tower, which has previously been delayed due to the original cladding company, Schmidlin going into bankruptcy and replaced by a Hong Kong company - a delay, which, according to Dessoy cost them eight months.

Besix is in joint venture with Arabtec and Samsung to build the Burj Dubai, which will form the centrepiece of Emaar's $20 billion (AED 73 billion) Burj Dubai Downtown development. While speculation remains over the tower's eventual height, local contractors estimate it will reach at least 800m once completed.

Hi guys... My first post...

Sorry if I post somthing noob :P

Back to topic, I really love this BD. The concrete section alone of this giant has already snatch the title of World Tallest Free-Standing Structure from CN, which have hold that record for more than 3 decades. Another 232m of steel structure atop of this height? Speechless!

anyway Cul just a question to point out for ur digram

Nice Vanh

Somehow ur first pic look weird, top and bottom section dont seem to fit in...

But the cladding on the last pic look awesome, Imagine how will it be like at sunrise/sunset for a fully cladded half-a-mile high BD?
