If they can build something as tall as Burj Dubai as a building, how tall do you think they can build a mast at this point?

Ever since Warsaw incident, i think they will think twice before going for a mast higher than 2121ft.

Also i believe building a mast that high up has its reason and not for the sake of getting the world tallest title (The current tallest from north dakota I read from somewhere said that height is build to coincide with the wavelenght of the radio transmisson)

Building like BD has a very strong and firm foundation and they are made of one huge chulk of conrete and steel, can't really compare.

Hey Sorglos!! Welcome to the SSC forums my new SSC "brother"
Have a good time here posting and such

I still cant believe it that it only needs 3 more stories to become the worlds tallest freestanding structure ever built!!! Oh man the clock is 11.57 for the CN Tower in Toronto

Cheers

i wonder when CN Tower managers will change there stats/info ? not only isnt tallest self-supported structure, but also looses tallest tower title to Guangzhou.
and more are coming ,eg-moscows russia tower, chicagos spire .,ect, so withina few years it will lose all titles. maybe just tallest structure in Canada?

Tallest concrete tower?

The rest? Too bad, all be snatched away by BD. Even the largest number of usable/accesible stories.

Anyway here is the benchmark i set for BD as it grow taller and taller

I hope the title will be given as below once it reached the listed height

Tallest Self-Supported on Land - > 553.3m

Tallest Structure on Land - > 628.8m

Tallest Structure Standing -> 640.1m

Tallest Man-made - > 646.4m

Hope it doesnt sound that bad...

yes BD is tallest concrete structure

I am not sure if BD is classified under tower or building/highrise, but if building den CN might stand a chance

But for concrete telecommunication towers alone, CN still rules.

Sure am glad you all are out there....

From where I come from nobody gives a crap about skyscrapers ,world's tallest and such. When I go to cities ,Whoever I'm with see them as just buildings, hunks of concrete and glass,"sigh". They just don't get it. I think you have to have an appreciation for art too. Can't wait to return to Chicago next year to see the start of the CS. Prefer to see the completion lol. And I will. Yes I forgot to mention the mast in Poland, what a shame that collapsed. Especially for the lives that were lost. Yup Burj will be the king no doubt about it. Then if all goes well ,the era of the Al Burj will begin, WOW!!! what a monster.

The tower looks great, and the Old Town Island looks very nice too.

Isn't the topmost part of the CN tower steel?

Tallest 'freestanding' in the Americas? Chicago Spire will surpass that. Will the CS's core be considered the World's tallest concrete structure? OTOH, from what I understand the CS's outer structure will be steel.

Tallest in all of Canada?

Yes but the concrete section alone is still tallest amongst all the telecommunication towers worldwide

It will still have the title of World Tallest Telecommunication Tower (dont mixed up between mast and tower) until GZ TV tower take over

Till then it will probably tallest concrete telecommunication tower or something (GZ TV tower is all steel right?)
