Pinnacle is 110m high!

Lets assume EMAAR's current height are right (which they're not!) The discrepancy from datum ground to L1 is 15.2m in variation!

You have 442m (current height)
+12m
+40m
+4.8m
+15.0m
+43.2m
+16.5m
+155.0m
+120m
+37.8m
+110

Add all that together and you get a height of 996.3m

Now add the 15.2m discrepancy between EMAAR's figures and my GPS one's and you get 1011.5m

For example, the ob deck actually starts at L124, but because it's double height we can count these floors as two. Anyway, entirely sensible question as I didn't explain my figures that well. Hope it help?
There ARE errors!

Look:

Levels 123-124 are 6m high each (split level ob deck!)
(1) fl-123 (2) fl-124 => 2 floors (ok)
Levels 125-135 are 4.0m high
11 floors (not 10!!)
Level 136 is 4.8m high
1 floor (ok)
Levels 137-139 mech floors are 5.0m high
3 floors (ok)
Levels 140-149 are 4.8m high
10 floors (not 9!!)
Levels 150-153 are 5.5m high
4 floors (not 3!!)
Levels 154-185 are 5.0m high
32 floors (not 31!!)
Levels 186-206 are 6.0m high
21 floors (not 20!!)
Levels 207-216 are 4.2m high
10 floors (not 9!!)
Pinnacle is 110m high!

Do you now understand?

For example:

Levels 150-153 are 5.5m high

Floor No.1. (150)
Floor No.2. (151)
Floor No.3. (152)
Floor No.4. (153)

Obviously, it's FOUR floors, not 3 as you counted.
Math "153-150=3" doesn't work because you loose one floor.

People! I found something from Businessweek.

That Sinking Feeling

A building of this size (remember, this structure weighs 500,000 tons) has a tendency to sink, if ever so slightly. So each floor is constructed an average of 4mm higher than the designated floor height.

The Lake Hotel is the one on the right, not the left. The one on the left is the hotel connected to the Dubai Mall.

Still he's right. the floor counts don't match. The number of floors on the drawing correspond to the height, but it seems you jump numbers, and not only on mech floors.

Example : level 125-135. No mech floors. 125 to 135 should make 11 floors but you give 40m , so 4x10 meters. On the accompanying drawing, there are effectively 10 consecutive floors of the same size. Which number doesn't translate in an existing floor, in {125...135} ?

Vincent.

The statement can be interpreted so you're right just only half way aldow I agree with what you are saying there is also an other side of math and yes I am an engineer but much more a mathematician and as I've learned math can be interpreteed in many ways and as I also learned at the University is that engineers have noting to do with precision but only with approximation of mathematical results

If you refer to this pic:

Left hand of the mall is Burj Dubai Lake Hotel, and on the right is Dubai Mall Hotel.

Are you frickin' kidding me? Anybody can approximate s***, engineers find actual numbers. Geez, what university did you attend.

Thanks for the explanations. I know that concrete does not dry, because if it does, it returns back into the powderlike substance. The water is used for the chemical reaction.

A few posts ago there is mentioned that floors are constructed 4 mm higher, to compensate the indentation of the walls by the weight of the building.
In that case, you don't have to do this for the upper floors. The lowest floors bare the heaviest loads.

Posted earlier.

Total number of man hours to build 124 floor to date = 20,114,240

Thats 162,211 hours per floor average!!

Great 1st contribution Mr Alloy. Seamless

Hey guy, don't get all this funky and mysterious. It's only sums and products, you know .

I'm quite capable of adding up, and yes again if you're counting what you've written above, then yes you're right! But, once again I refer you to my last explanation....please read it again and digest it this time!
