im pretty sure i read on wikipedia that the limit is like just under 630m i'll find the quote.

"Some time after its completion, the Federal Aviation Administration imposed a limit of 2,063 ft, based on this tower's height, on future construction; consequently, no taller structures may legally be built in the U.S. at present."

i'm sure the US won't have the same high restriction forever. 20-30 years maybe but it is bound to increase sometime in the future.

In Dubai, the height restrictions are imposed by Dubai municipality. The height of the building depends on the maximum height imposed in each urban zone. In areas where high rises are allowed, there is no limit or as put down by one of the municipality officials: "The sky is the limit"

By the way, Dubai airport is located down town and is only 5 miles away from the Burj.

That's a little bit wrong (as Wikipedia sometimes is). What really happened is that a while after the ones taller than 2000 feet were built, the FAA/FCC imposed the limit at 2000 feet (not at 2063 feet) but added a "grandfather clause" which stated that the two or three masts that were already in existence but taller than 2000 feet could keep their existing heights.

Yes, you do have cheap places to stay in Dubai, including Best Western hotels. However, the cost does depend on the season and are generally high as the occupancy rates here are extremely high and most hotels are fully occupied for most of the year.

as far as i know are these masts quite old....i believe at the time they were build there was probably no height limit.

It was L150 on 9th, so in 3 days one third of the core formwork must be already at L151 - 560m

Lets just let refresh some very interesting point about BD, at the current projected height it is more than 600ft taller than any other man-made

The original height to concrete was at 586m or 1922 ft. Let's see if this number is "concrete" in truth.

The concrete section i really doubt it will go any higher than level 156. Yes not too long ago i always dream of that, but when i see the core setback at lvl 144, 148. I need the concrete has already been planned to be set at lvl 156.

What conclusion to base on? Its the pattern of floors per core setback, according to the plan most of this Tiers is quite consistence in height, hence the no. of floors. Since T13, 14 has been set, probably T15 and T16 will follow suit. What i strongly believe is that if they seriously wanna increased it further, Spire will be the best portion, if not, 90% be the steel structure that will be further increased.

Instead of constant 19.2m height for most of these Tiers in the steel section, probably they could increased it to 38.4m OR something is that a factor of 6.4m. The finally height could really surprised us as it could surpassed the 818m mark alot.

Dont ask me why, i just got this feeling.
