So the Burj Dubai has finally broken the record of the tallest free standing structure. Nice to hear. Can't wait to see it when I am in Dubai next time !!!

Not really. You are ignoring the fact that the core is thinner and there are no more side wings to rise, which took advantage of the cranes as well.

The only problem is that they have to pour concrete twice for one floor. So 5-6 days per floor is minimun as they can do.

Hi....

I am utterly new to this thread. But since I found out about this project 8 weeks ago, I am obsessed! Loving the forum.....and considering re training as an archiitect, this building is amazing, breathtaking. Me, I say it will be 3000 feet. I have seen Sheikh Mohammed and his horses! Money no object, just the search for perfection......

my boss is currently holidaying in Dubai. he emailed me yesterday and said he stood outside Burj Dubai and was shocked at its height. He has been around the world and seen most tall structures ,even been up CN Tower but this totally blew him away. When i told him they still have 250m to go he said it will be mind blowing.
He also is finding it hard to comprehend what is going on in Dubai. he has seen my photos on our forum but he just cant believe the scale of construction./ he will be back next week so ill try to post some piccies.

Actually, the reason why it looks so much taller than everything else is because of the amount of floors it has

lol? right oki. i kinda see what ur saying but even if there were no visable floors it wud still look huge.... and it looks bigger because there are no 300m buildings directly around it.

it just rises from the desert (like the flower it emulates)

.... (assuming that flower grows in dubai :S)

The max pouring height is 4m and floors under construction are 4.8m high. They are pouring one floor in two steps of 2.4m It was all in schedule that Fury posted not long ago.
