BTW where is the "host master"?
I was wondering too. His website looks dead. Still stating 146 floors and 541.5m. It should be 153 floors and 580m

Slightly off-topic question regarding travel to Dubai (inspired by the post a few pages back): Anyone have a good link for general info about traveling to Dubai?

I would love to take a trip to Dubai sometime as well, and see it all in person. Maybe sometime around 2010-2015...

Hello, this is my first post here. I have been with the board (observing) for a very long time now. I signed now because i felt it was about time. lol Anyway nice to meet you all (including: Imre, AltinD ect...). I live in Dubai and i am sure i can contribute to a part of this message board. My name is Randy a.k.a Smack!.

I decided my first post would be in this thread, since its historic. Anyway... i will do my best to keep you guys up to date with the latest on construction and stuff going on in Dubai.

On Topic: This tower is simply amazing! I mean the way its built, with the rate they are building it, its stunning. I cant wait to see the final result and the full cladding on.

Does emaar.com or burjdubai.com work for any of you? They don't open for me.

Just a weird thought: If we put all these BurjDubai-pages together, print them on fanfold paper and attached this to a high pole: could it be possible, that in the end this thread would be "taller" than its megatall topic?

So people from all over the world coming to Dubai might talk like the following:
A: "Watch that building over there, darling!"
B: "Which one? .... This? well, nice... but what's so special about it?"
A: "This is the Burj Dubai - the tower with the world's longest internet thread everyone is talking about!"
B: "Really??? Wow!!! I'm so thrilled to see it in real!!!

On the other hand: looking at Culwullas fantastic night-pic in #7018, it's hard to believe anything can be taller than Burj Dubai!

It would be equivalent to many times the height of BD... im thinking 2kms if only text is included using an average per post of 10cm, but maybe 7km or 9km if all content is included.

It's interesting when a building that's far away is just as "tall" as the building you're standing next to.
