As I said before, different people has different tastes, I don't really like buildings that thin at the top(it can be a little thinner than the base, but not that much thinner, and I never say it should be wider than the base!). So I like buildings like ICC more than burj. I also see the burj as a 600m or so skyscraper because I don't count spire. I don't mean that this is a bad building, it is very nice indeed, but just not my most favorite one. Everyone can have their own opinion, right?

Vader11 - you seem to have jumped on BD very soon after I made the 'antenna' comment about the Freedom Tower (1,376') on that forum. Is that the reason you're upset?

I don't think there are any relationships...just personal feelings about designs.
Ok, let's get back to the topic.

Cesar Pelli (argentinian and architect like me )dixit: The difference between an antenna and a spire is that an antenna isn't a integral part of the design. it's just that and nothing else, like Sears Tower. Think on this: if u remove it from the top, you'll see that nothing is missed. And imagine BD, Petronas, Chrysler whithout spire, how "incomplete" would look like

But sometimes it may look strange if the antennas of ESB or sears tower are removed.

this "conflict" is a valid intellectual "conflict" about skyscrapers an BD . I thinks it's absolutelly a part of the discussion of this forum. I kinda like this passion, and there's nothing to be concerned about express our opinions and visions about design and architecture: that's the way we "build" a better world Cheers

How far up can you go up via the stairs? Is it just me or do I recall a way up all the way to a hatch at the absolute top? Using this thinking, as I'm told is used in the Empire State Building, you'd need to list the absolute entire height!

Perhaps then the Sears tower should be listed under two categories. To the roof in the building category, and to the tip of the antenna for the mast category.

May this would allow more accuracy overall!

The Sears Tower, Hancock Center, and ESB would look JUST as wrong (maybe even worse) without their respective antennae than the Petronas or Taipei 101 would. It should either be to roof or to pinnacle, not some arbitrarily determined feature.
