^ I don't think it's too thin, but that's not a fair comparison. One is a building and the other is a communications tower. What's next? You're gonna compare it to a radio mast?

It is quite thin in my opinion. Also, as someone has mentioned, you can't compare it to CN tower because one is a building and the other isn't. It is also taller than the CN.

I'm one of the guys who ranted about it being too thin but the way it's shaping up it looks very elegant. This building is truly a work of art. I really love the way the glass looks on the building.

Now let me rant about the lake. I was hoping it would be deeper so it looks more natural. Maybe I'm wrong about that too since it isn't finished yet.

Burj Dubai looks tall and thin because it IS!!!! its 100m higher then highest previous roof, being Sears tower. THUS we havent seen anything like this.
Its Earths first super-duper tall. get used to it.

Tell me about it! The whole area looks so dead to me. Building more and more supertalls doesn't help if the area looks like that. Nothing but sand. Making the whole Dubai look fresh and desireable will be one huge project.

I have to admit this will be more enormous than i somehow expected.. U have to go pretty far to get the whole building into a picture now.

I'm sure what Alweron meant was that it's not lush and naturally green like rainforest cities or cities in temperate climate where some green is still left. His misconception is that he sees all the desert and gets a dry feeling, when Dubai actually is as green as most cities.

When it comes to amount of greenery pr. citizen Dubai is a bit below average, but still amazingly high considering it's surrounded by desert. One of the points in Dubai strategic plan 2015 is to put Dubai on par with the international average of greenery pr. citizen. Thus accomplishing an incredible feat in making Dubai as lush as any temperate city.

One can never remove the surrounding desert. But this is also what make the city unique and is an even greater tribute to its accomplishments.
