Altin: I flew out of Dubai Airport a few days back and the Emirates flight did get as close to the Burj as can be viewed in the pics. Unfortunately I did not have a camera to record a fantastic view of the full Downtown area.

its a great horizon view, especially when you think the other towers in the photo are about 400 to 500 foot high.

That's why I said "... don't usually ..." and yeah I have seen some planes fly nearby, afterall they changed the approach routes less then 2 years ago, restricting heights in parts of SZR with result in amaizing looking tower being redesigned or shortened and even cancelling the Park Square project that was supposed to include a 600+ meters tall hotel tower.

I just want to say thanks to Imre and others who have posted photos! There absolutely awesome, and I'm 100% confident we will be awed and amazed with each step in the process of the Burj Dubai becoming one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Per:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_W...e_Modern_World

CN Tower February 6, 1973 June 26, 1976 Toronto, Ontario, Canada

IMHO the CN Tower should be replaced with the Burj Dubai

Cheers,

-Tom

I'm not sure if anyone on the ground in Dubai would be interested or not in seeing just how far away they can currently see the tip of the current structure? taking a photo of the tip, posting it, and let everyone here know the distance.

Anyone interested in a local road trip

Cheers,

I was escorted by a high profile manager in Arabtec who let me in on a few secrets… Mwahhahaaha!

Alright,

As of 22/9 the completed floor count = 152
The last concrete floor, beginning of steel structure = 159
Observation Deck = 123/124

41 (The missing Floor) is a ‘Mechanical’ floor or Mezzanine. Serves as the roof of the Armani Hotel.

TOP OF PINNACLE (FINAL redesign No. 6) is… is… a…

I took pictures of the blue prints by SOM, Samsung, Besix, Arabtec & approved by Emaar… will upload them soon… when I leave the country!

I was happy to see it over 800 meters ))

I assume the red area is the "Dubai Camel Racecourse" (Al Marqadh).
Inside the red ring you can identify the racecourse.

Here a map: http://www.dtcm-dubaimap.com/applet/map.html

Progress seems good.
I have a question reguarding the steel: How will it be built? Will it be pre-fabricated in peices offsite and installed in the tower? Or will it be installed/fixed traditionally?

And is the steel part mechanical? Or will it contain apartments/restaurants/observation decks or other entertainment facilities?

Thanks
