I was wondering how they could extend the crane. I bet there is a supporting frame under the canopy.

The crane is anchored in a liftshaft and probably connected to the top of the core as well.

Great post, Fury. I didn't understand half of that, but what I did understand was enlightening.

God! If no one realised, tomorrow is supposed to be the very day when steel structure is starting to get erected, however did anyone see that happening soon?

Another astonishing fact is that why is the crane extended? Does it mean the rumor that concrete portion has been increased is getting more and more real?
I had a drive around the full Burj area today, and there is no sign of steelwork delivered within the Burj vicinity.

I think the crane gives us a clue that more concrete to follow, and this will make it part of the guessing game.

The steel part does NOT start at the level 154.

If we look at both the photos below taken on 28th September and today, we have to ask ourselves what extent is the extension of the crane height on the right hand side that is obscured by the safety netting (not just for safety reasons), and I would guess the same will also happen to the crane on the left over the coming week.

Look back at pics provided by AltinD and in particular Imre on a number of occasions in this thread, the crane base has always up until now been visible…………a lot more concrete pour to go??????

There’s a lot more concrete to follow before the steel, and I guess that can be backed up with no steel delivered to site as off today. As I said last week there was a few big lifts heading up last week.

There might be a slim hope for 914.4

We should have a better idea in the next couple weeks......

That is a beautiful picture. It looks a little bit like Coruscant to me.

Just because you don't know the reason for it doesn't mean there isn't one. And just because it stopped rising doesn't mean they have stopped working. You don't know what they are currently working on so don't pretend that you do.

The cladding looks amazing in the sun. Too bad it's always so hazy in Dubai.

The steel isn't steel. it's composite, weighing about 100th the weight of steel. It will be lowered by helicopter. This is why no steel has been seen gathered at ground level.

WTF!?!?!?

Im sorry but you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about...

Anyway, I dont believe the crane being extended is a sign the concrete section is being extended. Are there plans to replace both current cranes for a larger one with higher capacity? Am I missing something?

Oh yeah then when does it start? You wan me to repost the plan of L154 - L160 to convince you both the time and material it was suppose to begin?

Unless it has been -like i said- increased in the concrete section, den we do not know which level does the steel start, but please keep in mind base portion of the steel has been built with the concrete at the transition between steel and concrete. This is to create stability of the steel framework. So by right steel will come in 2 levels below the actual thing.

Dude you say you dont believe the crane is being extended mean concrete is increased, and yet u say you are missing something?

YES! you are missing something, because now the concrete has been increased, that is precisely why this is currently not the time yet for the big crane to replace both of the current crane, the larger one will come in once the steel portion has started

Please guys, look at today construction, if today no steel work is done at all, I am 100% sure concrete is being increased, unless the schedule is screwed up or they are behind the schedule which I highly doubt it.
