Nobody I ask seems to know anything about it.

Btw. Nice rendering
Burj Dubai is not a effective/economic buildingdesign in terms of floorareai believe. Its a landmarkbuilding though. Altough i doubt the possibilities to build squarish buildings to such height so maybe after the circumstances it are. Hard to say becouse its the first at that height.

Anyhow id say Petronas is a better example to suit your question, its so massive, and looks spacious.

Not if environmental polluting gets more expensive (C02 taxes and so on, justified by increasig environmentalcare costs), and then land (becouse the devastation of vegetation is an at least equally as bad issue) gets more expensive. And before you know it everyone reachs for the sky and more compact cities with better use of space .

EDIT: Sry for the doublepost

About x-seed 4000, sure we can all agree its not viable today for many reasons (engineering technology i believe would be one of the minor ones). But just the thing that it has been seriously planned out, not only one but serveral differet supertalls like that one, shows that the ambitions are there among mankind, and eventually someone will go for it.

I see in the thread giovani kun linked to one complained its not to human scale. Maybe hes partly right. Maybe we will rather see many building between 1000-2000meters? Anyhow hed probably argue thats not human scale either. However you need to look past the buildingfacade and the buildings height and know that its probable to make clean recreation areas of big enough sizes, conformtable communication systems both i/o and to other towers, both transportation and informational infrastructure. Maybe fuel cells have a good future here even for commuter traffic, doesnt electricity come with its problems? (risk of fire)
So when you see this "impossible" ideas presented, look past the facade and realise what can be done in such big areas. We could create a perfectly enjoyable environment for human communities at the same type as we free the rest of thhe environment from the envrionmental stress humans have and are causing onto other life, and threatening the ever important (to handle changes in the ecosystem etc) biological diversity of our planet on every scale.

again? some days ago the 41 crashed due to load of upper floors! They tried to repair but it cost too much, so they decided to remove it...

...it is some mech floor, maybe inside the core; there are others at upper levels

Very inteligent answer. Respect.

But I see no place between #40 and #42 for some mech. floor to be counted as a floor #41.

The building exact height and floor number is a disputed subject here ..indeed the absence of the 41 floor is due to mech floor wich are much many on this building so be free to gues how many floors does it have !!

Not every aeroplane is pressurised! I learnt to fly in single-engined planes and was permitted to fly up to 10,000ft (just over 3,000 metres). Of course, the rate of climb wasn't as great as in an elevator!

You may add: "What is the expected final height?"

That ranges from 705 Meters (The absolute desperate pessimistic height iff some things had happend forced to have this height) to 1011 Meters in height (The absolute optimistic height Iff the structure and foundations are stronger then expected and able to build higher)

My gues will be 808/818 Meters in height.

I believe there are three toilets in this building....two of them are for women and the other has only one urinal.

Anyway, my father turned up on Thursday evening quite out of the blue with an old friend of his. They met in 1980 when my father opened and ran the South African resort of Sun City (which he ran for 16 years). The guy's name was Duncan McKensie, the developing contractor of Sun City and my father dragged him down 250 miles to see me, saying that I've got to meet him.
After a few drinks we started talking about his recent return from Shanghai, saying that his role there for the last few months was to orchestrate the correction of the 4" lean the SWFC had developed after a large tremor and the difficulties of building skyscrapers foundations on bedrock in a seismic area. He then said that he was off to Dubai next week to start on a new project....but couldn't say what he was doing as it was a secret.
I racked my brains for a few minutes trying to guess what approved building he was working on and my 3rd guess was the Dancing Towers!
His eye's lit up at this point and a wry smile appeared on his face! "How do you know about the Dancing Towers?", he asked. I told him about my passion about construction in Dubai and he was blown away at the level of knowledge I had on various different projects. Luckily I had my PDA phone with me and I showed him a few forums and the DMP website which he found absolutely fascinating. Anyway, after a few more drinks I mentioned the whole interview thing with Adrian Smith, which it turns out he knows very well. It also turned out that he is in constant contact with Mohammed Alabbar and has also met the Sheikh himself on many occasions. I badgered him further to see if he knew what the final height of the BD would be, and he quickly replied with "yes I do, but I couldn't possibly say!"
Desperately now trying to get him drunk enough to let his guard down, he didn't falter with his determination not to say, although later on in the evening he did make me a bet that if I could guess what his favorite architect was, he would tell me the final height of the BD. The only clues I was given is that 'he' was 'British' and that he was envolved in some of the most spectacular achitectural designs in the world.
Anyway researching like mad, I emailed him the answer yesterday and he phoned me this morning, firstly making me swear on my fathers life that I would not disclose the figure with anyone, the height of the Burj Dubai Tower!
Now knowing the height (which was given to me as a +-10m figure, due to the nature of unpredictability) has now become a curse, as knowing and not being able to tell anyone is actually worse than not knowing at all!
So guys, please don't try and ask me the height and put me in an awkward position, but the only thing I can say is it will be much more than 808m and more than 200 floors.
All in all though, those that love this building will NOT be dissapointed!
